Silent Cities. Preserving the gardens of the dead - www.homestead.com/askjeane

About Me

Happily married living in Essex with a menagerie of animals. As a necropolis rambler, I’m dubbed the ‘Headstone Hunter.’ As a photographer, I spend much of my time in cemeteries in the UK and Paris capturing angels, tombs, mausoleums, catacombs and vaults. As an artist, I create my interpretation of monuments in oils. As a journalist, I research some of the more obscure occupants of the graves to bring their stories to life. I report and write about places of eternal rest for national newspapers and magazines including It's Fate, National Geographic, Prediction, Fate and Fortune, and have been interviewed by the BBC 3 times. I’m also a psychic, parapsychologist and paranormal investigator. I collect 19th century mourning cards, Victorian mourning jewellery and have a keen interest in burial rites and funerary. For further information see my website at: www.homestead.com/askjeaneSome people ask me why I find cemeteries so fascinating. To me they are filled with interesting monuments and amazing history. Sadly many of the older graves are crumbling and burial space is being reclaimed by local authorities or nature. I take photographs to help to preserve a little of their history for future generations. I am now also involved with helping to restore monuments. People from all over the world visit my website and tell me how much they enjoy my photos and the research so I guess I must be doing something right!I spent 3 ½ years at the College of Psychic Studies in South Kensington, London, studied Criminology at Birkbeck University, Death Studies at the City Lit and have moved on to Mortuary Science and Thanatology.Readings: If you would like a reading check out my website for further details. Photo readings take me approx 2 hours to complete so please don't ask for a freebie because I no longer have the time. For media enquiries, bookings, investigations, photography - message me. All my images on here are copyright so don't even think about using them without permission, ask and I'll probably let you :)My books: See details below in the Books section. His grave has sustained much damage, the copper plaques with names and inscriptions are missing and part of the grave is suffering from subsidence. I have set up a fund to carry out the necessary repairs and to restore his monument. All donations to the Pite Memorial Restoration Project will be gratefully received, no amount is too small.
