The J.O.B.

One woman man playing in a one-man band

About Me

Profile courtesy of MySpace Layouts
I am The J.O.B. (the Jim O'Dell Band), a one-man band, creating sonic landscapes mostly using electric and acoustic guitars (along with other exotic instrumentation, lol). Music and the ability to create and record it is not only my fun, but it is a gift from God to be able to create and record music. I basically tinker with sound in my sonic laboratory (i.e. basement) as a fun hobby/outlet when time allows. I have recently discovered this joy of recording and mixing music as I received some recording equipment from my darlin' wife as a gift on our 10-year anniversary. So far, I have been putting it to some use -- you can listen and let me know if it's being put to good use :) I think the tunes have come out decent so far if I do say so myself.
My wife and kids are the greatest gifts I could have ever been given and I am grateful to have a day job where I have a means to support my family (making music is not my day job). However, if you want, take a listen to my tunes and feel free to comment. I don't think you'll be disappointed, but what the heck do I know?
When I was in high school, my first collective "musical" experiences and sonic experimentation were with a group of fine fellows with whom I did cross country running. One of the fellow harriers, Michael Schuldt, had a great old 4-track recorder in his basement and four of us decided to put it to use to see what we could muster out of our limited musical knowledge. These were exciting times, though at the beginning, we didn't know what we were capable of. The name of the band was "A Bunch of Drunk Monkeys" (which is probably what we sounded like at the beginning), or acronymically, ABODM, or simply Abdomen. Well, Abdomen is still around (at least in concept) and you can CLICK HERE to read up on all things Abdomen. The website is courtesy of founding member, M. Schuldt (mad props to you, sir for keeping Abdomen alive on the 'Net!)
The Lost Dogs concert on 7/6/07 was a great success! It was a lot of fun and many friends and fans enjoyed the show! For a more detailed report, please visit the Lost Dogs concert website . One of the attendees put together a cool site with a lot of pictures of that evening and even a video clip. Check that out HERE To read the after-show buzz on the Lost Dogs message board, go HERE
Hey, no really, thanks for visiting! Come back anytime...
God Bless,

And now for something completely different...
This is a home movie public service announcement about "never keeping guns around your kids" and is not to be taken seriously nor is it to be taken as a political commercial (speaking for myself, I was a pipsqueak of 13 and not savvy enough for that!) I know I'm dating myself, but this was "shot" in 1984. Needless to say, the "acting" leaves a bit to be desired. I am the unfortunate father coming home from work and my friend Ryan is the son, who does the voice of the unfortunate son as well as the "PSA voice-over voice". Enjoy and heed! :)
