About Me
I was given a snare drum for my 9th birthday. Since Jr. High I was always in a band, playing the drums and writing songs. In the early eighties I co-founded the L.A. based modern rock group, “The Choir,†with Derri Daugherty. Our first album, “Voices in Shadows,†was released in 1985; and this spring our 12th album, “O How the Mighty Have Fallen,†was released on Galaxy 21 Records. In 1997, our album, “Free Flying Soul,†received a Dove award. In 2000 our album, “Flap Your Wings,†was nominated for a Grammy. I’m proud of our longevity – that our creative chemistry continues after 20 years…and that we remain close friends.I started producing bands in the early nineties. I’ve produced more than 30 bands, including – The Prayer Chain, The Violet Burning, Hoi Polloi, Luxury, Morella’s Forest, The Waiting, Common Children, By the Tree, Cool Hand Luke, Something Like Silas…In 2000, I created and produced the successful various artist concept album, “City on a Hill,†which became a series. I wrote and co-wrote many of those songs including, “God of Wonders.†Throughout the 5 years that I worked on that series, I was fortunate to interact with many amazing artists including, Jars of Clay, Sixpence None the Richer, Nichole Nordeman, Third Day, Caedmon’s Call, Jennifer Knapp, FFH, Phil Keaggy and many more!As a producer, I’ve attempted to be an inspiration to artists. I’ve tried to be a good facilitator for the creative visions of others. It’s a blessing and honor to be invited into that process. I consider production to be a servant’s role. When I reflect on my career, I’m most pleased with the lyrics I’ve been able to offer. I consider that to be my highest creative “calling.†I hope to write soul stirring songs as long as I live.
