About Me

WELCOME! I am a singer/songwriter based out of Jacksonville, Florida, and the proud father of two beautiful sons. They mean the world to me. I have a "My Space" account for the purpose of exposing the world to my music and to sample the music of other artists. It is a music site, not a dating site. I am not on "My Space" to meet women, or anything of that nature. My heart already belongs to someone. I do like to make friends and I must say that I have made a few real friends on "My Space" and that is just a special, unexpected, added bonus.I have been called a poet by many, I will not confirm or deny this. My lyrics stand on their own. YOU be the judge! Bob Dylan and Bruce Cockburn are two of my biggest songwriting heroes because of their wonderful wordsmithing and perspectives. The Beatles are my favorite band because of their musical creativity and diversity. While performing live, I am usually solo with my acoustic guitar. I would prefer to perform with a full band, but find they can be difficult to maintain. However I do love the honesty and clarity of performing alone. You're more likely to see me live at venues like coffeehouses or folk clubs but my debut CD will NOT be an acoustic only cd. Not even close! For a more in-depth look at my musical background. please check out my blogs (Vann's Musical Journey, Parts 1 & 2). My debut CD is tenatively scheduled for completion summer of 2008, and it's release in fall of 2008. My debut CD will have a diverse musical feel. It will contain lyrically driven songs and the musical styles will vary greatly from song to song.I love several kinds of music and that is reflected in what I write. The cd will contain acoustic gems, rockers, ballads, and much more. Style-wise l would not know quite how to classify all of the songs. It is chock full of acoustic & electric guitars, piano, various keys and percussion, drums, sax, strings, and more. However, lyrics are the centerpiece of all my songs. I believe they have a broad appeal to romantic , cerebral, and spiritual people. Besides myself, many very talented musicians can be heard on my upcoming cd. I will post an in-depth blog about the other players when the disc is closer to completion.Thank you so very much for visiting the Vann Hardin "My Space" site. I hope you've enjoyed yourself. Please come back often!!! God bless you and yours, Vann

MUSICAL "LABELS" CAN BE DECEPTIVE (Vann's 1st blog)

In creating a site to showcase my music, I was allowed 3 options to describe it. I find this immeasurably frustrating, though I do understand it. Five or six would've been better.  Most artists w...

VANN'S MUSICAL JOURNEY Part 1 (or How Keith Moon became Bob Dylan)

Welcome, friends! How did a scrawny, flailing madman sitting behind a drumkit become a middle aged writer of tear jerker songs?  I'm not quite sure how ir happened, but it did.  So, pull up ...
