About Me
John Accunzo (a.k.a. "thesoundman") has been contributing his audio engineering talents to a wide variety of productions as a diligent servant of the Lord for nearly two decades. His main focus has always been on ministry first, ever ready to labor or the Lord's sake and demonstrating an earnest desire for hearts to be brought closer to Jesus. John continually strives for excellence when it comes to the presentation of artist's music. He only renders his services to musicians and bands that are clearly grounded in principle, vision as well as an overall philosophy that is consistent with the word of God. Over the years, through relentless dedication and plenty of hard work, John has ensured that the message, music and spoken words of many local Christian artists have been skillfully communicated to literally thousands of ears.

In addition to years of practical, "hands-on" experience, John received some more "formal" training from Marty O'Connor, Technical Director of Willow Creek Community Church, a Chicago-based organization with outreaches around the world. From Marty, he learned some important technical lessons covering basic sound reinforcement, microphone techniques and other live production applications. John also attended workshops on church sound applications conducted by Kent Morris of Peavey Electronics, an expert engineer, system designer and principle clinician for Maranatha Music's national workshops, who is also a Minister of the Gospel. Kent instructed John in advanced microphone techniques as well as the proper use of equalization, compression, outboard effects and various types of sound mixing equipment. Even though successfully completing this training, there are two important people John considers to be his mentors and encouragers, who truly inspired him to do what he does. First is the multi-talented Gregg Suriano of Long Island, NY. Gregg is a prolific singer, songwriter, musician, producer, arranger and music teacher, who was the first Christian Artist John ever met after giving his life to Christ at age 14. The two became close friends and soon John became involved in promoting Gregg's ministry, securing him bookings, in addition to working behind-the-scenes at his performances and in the studio. John also had the privilege of being one of the Executive Producers on Gregg's last recording, entitled "Basics". The second person is Michael Turro of Panavid, Inc, who serves as Technical Director of Meadowbrook Church, a Willow Creek affiliate, in North Haledon, NJ. John worked under Michael's watchful eye and was given the opportunity to put into practice the many things he learned. John is often quoted as saying, "If you like anything about the way I engineer, it came from one of these two individuals whom God allowed me the honor to serve under". Despite all of the activities mentioned here and the excitement of engineering live events every time John gets to sit behind a mixer, the most exciting and humbling moment is John's life was when he was ordained into ministry in March of 2006. "I knew I was called into ministry shortly after receiving Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal Savior, in January of 1975 when I was 14, but I did not know when, where or how this was going to happen", John explains. "I am truly blessed and honored that my current Pastor, Rev. Kau J. Dolopei-Hollis, recognized me almost immediately after I started attending The Church of the Living God in Philadelphia, PA five years ago. When I was asked to speak at their next Friday evening prayer meeting, the Pastor soon after discerned that I must be ordained. I now proudly serve the Lord, the people of the greater Philadelphia area as well as the world in a whole new capacity. I look forward to serving any of you, who need the skills which God has given me, in order to further your ministry while helping you to accomplish the great commission" To God be the Glory!
