Band Bio:
The alternative rock band Cyntext is a mix of heavy alternative riffs, expressive melodies, and dark emotions. Hailing from Lake County, Illinois, Cyntext has set out to do one thing, create and perform music that they love and share it with the world. Since coming together, the band has put out 2 EP albums on their own, the first of which (Self Titled) recorded at Big Gold Studios in Chicago IL with engineer Jon Alvin. The 2nd, entitled “The Obsession,†the band tracked, produced, mixed, and mastered entirely on their own.
Aside from that, the band has spent a lot of time on the road, playing shows all over the Midwest area. During this time, Cyntext has made friends with countless bands, played a lot of great shows, and developed a strong, devoted fan base. Cyntext has played along side bands such as Kittie, Chevelle, Otep, Helmet, Strata, Future Leaders of the World, Crossfade, and many, many more.
Cyntext formed in 2004, with the lineup of Meg McGrath on vocals, Daniel Spannraft on guitar, Jeffrey Moy on bass, and Robert Soria on drums. Prior to Cyntext, these 4 musicians got to know each other and become friends by playing along side each other in the local music scene in different bands. But after recording their 2nd EP, in late 2006, the band felt it was time for an addition to the group, and picked up Aurora Sky guitarist James Spannraft. Having James play with the group made a great addition to the band and overall sound.
This brings us to the present day, where Cyntext continues to write the type of music they love and perform it live in front of their great fans!
