Used Kids

The Used Kids are a punk rock'n'roll band. We formed in late 2007, after Nato and Danny moved to Brooklyn from their hometown of Milwaukee, WI. Mikey joined to play a show with the Modern Machines at The Fest VI (info on the Modern Machines can be found below), and ended up stickin' around. Kate joined shortly thereafter on lead guitar. For awhile, this lineup was still called the Modern Machines (or Modern Machines Hovercraft). Our first show as the Used Kids was February 1st, 2008.We played a bunch of shows in and around Brooklyn, and meanwhile, we recorded a 3-song 7". It came out on April 8th, 2008. It's available from Salinas Records, who do not have a myspace as of this band bio. However, they do have a REAL website, so go there: http://unshadowed.com/salinas/.Our first tour started right after that on April 9th in State College PA, and ended April 20th in Buffalo NY. On the way we played the record store in Columbus which we're named after, many awesome houses, nearly had a show cancelled in Minneapolis which was rescued at the last second and brought to the classic Mnpls punkhouse: The Alamo!, rocked a raucous homecoming in Milwaukee, played an attic in Lansing MI in a neighborhood which had a serial killer on the loose, opened for BBQ (Mark Sultan) in Toronto (ruled), and on the final night, played the best show of our tour to a collection of humans and hobbits in the biggest house in the history of the universe - the cops came, so we started playing really quiet until they left, and then we TURNED THAT SHIT UP! All in all, the first Used Kids tour was awesome.Now, we continue to exist. More records, shows, and tours are planned for the near and far future. Specifically, a full-length on Salinas should be out by the Fest VII. Tacos!HISTORY OF THE MODERN MACHINESThe Modern Machines were born in Milwaukee, WI, in the winter of 2000-2001. Nato and Ben "BJ Oihawk" Woyak wrote some songs on their guitars, and Danny and Jon Hands-on joined up on bass and drums, respectively. We recorded and released some tapes, a split cd with the Fragments (a much missed WI pop-punk band) on New Disorder Records, a full-length on that same label called "Thwap!", a short album/long e.p. called "Taco Blessing" on Recess Records, a split cd/lp with IfIHadAHiFi (great Milwaukee art/noise/punk band) on Crustacean Records, and our most recent album is "Take It, Somebody!" on Dirtnap (cd) and Recess (lp). And we've done split 7"s with the Ergs!, Blotto, and the Measure SA. And some other stuff, too. Write us if you're interested.Since the dawn of Mo-Macs time, some people have come and gone. All have stayed gone. Ben left, to be replaced by BTO (whose name is Ben), who left, to be replaced by Ben "Kid" Kastner, who left, and after that, we decided to stay a three-piece (for the time being). Then, on New Year's Eve, 2006, Jon played his last show as a Modern Machine, and we went on hiatus, as Nato moved to Brooklyn in early 2007 to try some other musical stuff. Danny eventually moved there too. ..
