Scary Good, Fire Bad

About Me

Hi there. My name is Nato Coles. I am a Milwaukee guy, but I happen to be living in Brooklyn at the moment. I set up this MySpace page because I am pretty clueless about actual website creation, and this was easy. User-friendly. I play, and have played in, a bunch of bands, some good and some awful. Maybe the best band I was ever in was Turbodingus, a tribute to Turbonegro. That was some time ago. Anyway, I play guitar and sing. I rock a mean harmonica. I can play piano semi-ok.At the moment, I'm in the Modern Machines, the Headless Hookers, and also, I play solo shows. Usually they're acoustic-type things, but there are no rules except the golden one: Rock others as you would like them to rock you.The Modern Machines are my longtime band. No retreat, baby, no surrender. We've been together since 2001, and although we've lost a Ben, gained and lost a couple more Bens, and now lost a Hands-on, we gained a Mikey "Ben" Ergs to play drums. Danny and I are the current two original members. We both moved from Milwaukee to Brooklyn for some reason. Although the band isn't as active at the moment, here in Brooklyn, as we used to be back in Milwilly, we will be playing a few shows, and also The Fest VI (www.thefestfl.com).The Radio Faces are myself on guitar, Jimbo on guitar, Mikey on bass, and Sully on drums. We are all on vocals, because we are all vocal. This band was started 'cause I knew all these guys from others bands I'd met while roamin' around (the Ergs!, the Young Men, Bent Outta Shape [r.i.p.], Ringers, Bossy, and on and on and on), and you should listen out those other bands if you haven't already. The Headless Hookers are rock! Josh plays guitar and sings, Jessie plays percussion and sings, Dave thwomps the drums, and I play blazin' lead guitar under the alias Nathan Futuristico.Lastly, two things: I'm starting a new band (yes, another one! With my friend Polly from Crimson Sweet, and some other people), and recording some solo stuff. We'll see where that takes things. In the words of Garth Algar: "I like to play."

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: geocities.com/radiofaces
Band Members: I am a member of myself, yes.
Influences: Under 'em.
Sounds Like: I think I sound like Bob Mould, Howlin' Wolf, Paul Weller, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Westerberg, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer, Mike Ness, the baritone guy from the Coasters, the slightly less baritone guy from the Coasters ... all rolled into one giant burrito. And the music I make sounds kind of like those guys and their bands, but also the Ramones!!!, the early Beatles and other Merseybeat bands, the early Who and other mod bands, Sun Records stuff, early 80's power-pop, Yacht Rock(?!), acoustic Delta blues, good country ... and lastly (but certainly not leastly) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Record Label: unsigned
Type of Label: Major
