About Me

....
CHECK OUT THE VIDEO FOR "DIONNE" BY CAVALIER
Home to New Yorks premiere recording facility, The Dugout has been churning out the Brooklyn nouveau Golden Age through a voice yet unheard in hip-hop. In other words, the elite lyricism, punchy humor and devastating beats, once homed in the greatest borough, is back. Carrying the torch for The Dugout is Cavalier. Cav was raised on Brooklyn streets and uses his West Indian family's musical influence and a sharp instinct for song production to make himself known among raps most promising stars. In 2002, Cavalier made his way into the daunting world of hip-hop battles when Jin the Emcee and other hungry challengers wanted to show and prove. Not to be outdone, Cav leapt through the Hip Hop Summit emcee battle ranks and took home the crown. His will to be a great emcee, however, prevented him from pursuing battling to the end of the road. Instead, he chose to craft his art by doing shows and appearances around the city and recording a bevy of joints to perform at colleges and nightclubs. Cavalier was on the bill alongside Nas at Cornell University, P-Funk at Vassar College and has also shared the stage with the likes of Teairra Mari, BootCamp, and DMX prior to his return to the more traditional hip-hop spots in lower Manhattan. The Dugout has graced The Hammerstein Ballroom, Mercury Lounge, CBGB, Southpaw, The Tank, Bowery Poetry Club, Knitting Factory and The Cutting Room in the steady stride to underground rap success. Through unorthodox and off-the-cuff showmanship, Cavalier has made a stamp on fans and the general public with flourishes of flow and a tenacious stage presence. The attention has made its way to Black Beat Magazine and a national television spot in the VH1 Freestyle59 competition, where he fired off an unforgettable freestyle for two months in the summer of 2005.At the brink of emcee regality, Cavaliers seminal project, The Breaking, will be previewed through a series of Dugout music events. The first bash will allow the public to hear new Cavalier joints and witness firsthand the arrival of our next eminent hip-hop performer.
