Shabazz

Shabazz is all about the “message in the music”. Hailing out of Dallas, Shabazz has been writing songs since the age of 10. With such titles as “Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, Maggot Brain- New Millennium”, Tell Me What Is It Worth" and “Black Beauty Queen” to name just a few, Shabazz fuses art with love for mankind and philosophy. At age14 he formed a group by the name of Xtasy. After changing its name to Black Is Black, the group signed a recording deal with G.I.D. Entertainment, a label founded by three-time Super Bowl champion, Larry Brown of the Dallas Cowboys (Super Bowl XXX MVP). Later, Shabazz (aka, Mike Shabazz), moved to Atlanta where he worked with such artists and producers as Sam Sneed (formerly of Death Row Records), Lady G (of Hot 97.5 fame), and Mallia Franklin (the Queen of Funk from Parliament Funkadelic).Whether performing in front of 65,000 at Texas Stadium, opening up for Original Parliament with The Queen of Funk, or performing with his current bands, The Pulse and Uptown, Shabazz loves the stage. Currently he is residing in Dallas where he is working on a solo LP and burning up the stage throughout the area.“The word ‘Shabazz” comes from an ancient tribe called the Tribe of Shabazz. This tribe is said to have been the first people to find the best part of the Earth to live on and rebuild civilization after the Earth was separated from the Moon many eons ago, and to be the ancestors of Black People in America. The area they found is today known as Egypt.”
