Sequoia was born in San Francisco, CA. As the first baby born on Father’s Day, her first few hours of life were filled with camera flashes and reporters. It’s no wonder that she would choose entertainment as a career path.
Sequoia began exploring the arts at an early age. She was a member of the children’s choir at her church, nearly before she was able to speak. From that time forward, she was hooked. When she entered grade school, she further explored her interests, trying everything from ballet to the violin to the clarinet, the piano and on to school productions. In 1996, she was accepted to W. E. Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy for piano and voice. It was here that allowed her the opportunity to join the Dallas All-City Honor Choir. It was not until 1999, however, that she found her true passion when she was admitted into “the most unique high school in the nation,†Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; Theatre. She learned everything from set design and construction to mime and movement. While at Arts Magnet, she was involved in a number of plays inside and outside of school.
Upon graduation, she had a number of scholarship offers to various colleges wanting her to pursue her craft in their program. She made the decision to attend the University of Houston, in Houston, Texas and rather than continue with the Arts, she took up Psychology as her major. Shortly after, she realized that she could not stay away from entertainment, and picked up a second major in Media Production. While her primary focus was school, she still worked on a few productions, including student film “Thirteen†and “The Brandanson Fire Department.†She also signed with the Actor’s, Etc. talent agency.
After graduating in 2006, Sequoia moved to Dallas and found a “real job,†although for her, its only purpose was to pay the bills while she supported her “acting habit.†She used her time after work to work on several plays, such as Teco Theatre's rendition of The Black Nativity, where she portrayed The Virgin Mary. In March 2007, she signed with Linda McAlister talent and the rest is history. Since signing, she has worked on several commercials and independent films, including the Fire from Below, which allowed her to become SAG eligible. Also a writer and singer, it is only a matter of time before we hear about other projects that this young entertainer has created.
In between acting gigs, Sequoia works full-time and is enrolled in graduate school at the University of North Texas. She lives in the Dallas area.
