Sounds Like: "A true story inspired a poem, which inspired a
painting by J.M.W. Turner, The Slave Ship, which has in turn inspired
this exceptional record. The story is that of the captain of a ship who
was transporting slaves when a typhoon struck. The captain saw his
opportunity, and ordered that any slaves who were sick or dying be thrown
overboard, to collect on an insurance policy only covering slaves lost at
sea. A stark parallel between the terrible beauty of nature, and the
terrible potential of human nature. An ambitious subject to tackle
musically. This is exactly what Sepia Dreamer have attempted to do with
this intriguing instrumental album. The music is often atmospheric,
melodic and contemplative but also highly evocative in terms of the power
of the storm. Certain passages actually feel like waves, rhythmically
hitting the ship, then the dreadful anticipation before the riff hits
again. The album is carefully crafted to build to a startling and
enthralling climax in the final track 'Capitulation'; and could work as
the soundtrack to the story. Wonderful." (Zero Tolerance magazine).
