When Day Descends

Tasmanian Progressive Metal/Rock

About Me

When Day Descends are a progressive rock/metal project from Tasmania, Australia. WDD create detailed atmospheric music which takes the listener on many epic journeys, music which fills the narrowing gap between progressive metal and rock.

Dave Caswell began the project in 2001 when he sought to express his progressive influences away from the heavier side of his other projects at the time. The debut album, "Transcend", was released in a small mostly promotional run beginning in early August 2005. At this stage the band was still only an instrumental solo project, but the decision was soon made to turn WDD into a complete live band.

In 2006 the last solo-project album "Ascension" was released, a temporary departure in style which explored guitar driven film-score music. More significantly 2006 has also seen When Day Descends become a complete line-up, with Linton, Liam, Trent and Rae joining. The transition to a full band also involves the major addition of vocals to the WDD sound.

Plans are in motion to have the next album completed and for WDD to be performing live early in 2007.
