NVISION TOUR STANDING ROCK EVENT A BIG, HEARTFELT SUCCESS!!
The NVision Tour Standing Rock event was a big success! Heartfelt thanks to the Standing Rock Nation & the community of Cannonball for its overwhelmingly warm hospitality and generosity shown to the NVision Crew. More than 150 youth and adults turned out for our 2-day event that focused on building a youth-driven campaign promoting being drug & alcohol free and promoting RESPECT for CULTURE, CULTURAL LIFEWAYS & EMPOWERING THE VOICES OF OUR YOUNG PEOPLE. It was a powerful experience for our NVision trainers as the Standing Rock Youth, despite the challenges they faces in regards to poverty, suicide, gangs and substance abuse, the Standing Rock Youth truly showed the power and potential that our Native youth have as the future leaders of Indian Country.
NVision was moved by the turnout of tribal leaders, parents, grandparents and families who participated in support of their youth. After 2-days of hard work, the Standing Rock youth alongside NVision trainers showcased their MAD SKILLZ, LEADERSHIP. TALENTS & POTENTIAL through presentations of their final products that included a print ad campaign (featured below), a PSA commercial, a play, photography, a mural and their own "Standing Rock Youth MySpace "Rezist & Rezpect" Campaign MySpace Page -so check it out y'all!!!
Support Our Native Youth as the Future Leaders of Tomorrow!!! Stay tuned for more updates including pictures, the Standing Rock Rezist & Rezpect PSA & video from the event. Again many heartfelt thanks to the Standing Rock Youth, to DJ Two Bears & his family...You touched our hearts, minds & spirits in ways that you will never know....

|| NVISION'S CURRENT SPECIAL PROJECTS...||
NVision is currently supporting the development of the following major projects...
1. Culture Shock Camp's "Native Souls" Hip Hop ..ary Project:
Native Souls, is a groundbreaking ..ary about the award-winning underground and all Native American hip-hop crew known as Culture Shock Camp-named “one of the most celebrated hip-hop groups in the Native American world” by The Source Magazine-and the explosive rise of the hip-hop movement in Indian Country today. Native Souls provides an entertaining and provocative glimpse into how hip-hop has become a rising force and a subculture for young Native Americans to find a voice and place where they fit in the 21st century.
2. Cherokee's By Blood, ..ary by Jenni Monet
“Cherokee’s By Blood” is a one-hour ..ary about the African-American struggle of belonging in 21st Century Indian Country. At its core is the painful history of slavery among the Cherokee Indians and the political fallout dealt to the tribe more than 100 years later. With tribal leaders pushing to remove today’s descendants of Cherokee Freedmen off the tribal rolls once and for all, rekindled is a movement for equal rights not seen in Oklahoma since the 1960’s. Through personal stories and clashing encounters captured among a tribe divided, “Cherokees By Blood” brings a rare and raw look inside the melting pot of 21st Century American Indian life. While the film brings to light the untold stories of Indian-African- American’s, it also offers a provocative look at the sovereign “system” that aims to uplift tribal nations, but as often, leaves its citizens at the mercy of its might in defining American Indian identity and entitlement in the 21st Century.
3. NVISION TOUR
NVision will launch the national “NVision & Native Souls Tour” in 2007. In partnership with Culture Shock Camp , the NVision Tour will will showcase Native hip hop along with youth leadership, wellness, arts, media and cultural workshops. We will be announcing NVision Tour dates soon!!!
