About Me

"The lion and the lamb shall lie down together, but
the lamb won't get much sleep." (Woody Allen)
Okay, you don't have to GO VEGAN! You don't even have to be vegetarian. But if you hang out here often enough, and read over the information that gets posted periodically, you might begin to understand why more and more people are giving it a try.
This page is being constructed as a resource guide for people who are interested in exploring Veganism, and hopefully will also become a gathering place for those who have already committed to being Vegan. Ideally, it will be a page one can share with friends, family, or a loved one who may be confused by or about the Vegan life.
On one level, being Vegan is a radical political act, and more often than not, the approach to it has reflected that. But many people are turned off to the idea of it because they get bombarded with phrases like "meat is murder" or "dairy is rape and murder." They are confronted with horrific images of animals in every possible array of suffering, dying, slaughter, and death.
Naturally, these ideas and images are difficult for many people to comprehend, or even to believe. Often, they will choose to turn away, without having learned anything at all. Some will even focus their anger and frustration on those who exposed them to such gruesome ideas and images in the first place.
On the other hand, it is understandable that those who have become aware of the horrors which lie behind the industries which perpetrate such heinous crimes against other living beings, not to mention wreaking havoc upon the planet in the process, might feel compelled to grab the attention of others and "shock them out of their complacancy."
Given the almost unbearable scope of it, one can't help but feel an urgency to end the suffering and to stop the devastation NOW! Hopefully, in time, and with patience, understanding, and education, Vegan 101 can shed some light on how we might all have a hand in making that happen.
Eventually, a Vegan 101 Group will be added where topics can be discussed. And though you will currently find many links in the blogs to places on the web where you can gather further information about a variety of topics from a wide range of perspectives related to Veganism, the ideas and beliefs expressed on this MySpace profile are, for the most part, those of Vegan 101.
This MySpace page is dedicated to my friends and family who sometimes have a difficult time understanding. I hope it helps.
