Luge

Hurtling into your hearts

About Me

The streets are empty, but a low rumbling is heard. It's coming nearer! Bringing the joy of disappointment into your lives, and hopefully a little sun, navigating the dark streets to be with you, Luge come hurtling into view on a wheeled tea tray of niftily arranged and tuneful songs about the confusion and difficulty that is modern living. If it's going to be all downhill from here Luge will make certain it's an entertaining ride. The West London quartet play drums, bass and guitar, topped with a generous baritone voice and vocal harmonies. Luge take the air and pile smash smack into the neatly parked car of your preconceptions. Eh!?We've been on paternity leave but now we are back, new songs, new arrangements, new thick hairs growing in hitherto hairless places. Be prepared to be thrilled (though not necessarily by the hair). In the meantime listen to the snippets from our John Emmerson produced debut album, Let's Luge.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Alex Beynon (drums), Andy Clift (singing), James McQueen (bass), Miles Jordan (guitar).
Influences: The melodic marvellousness of the well crafted popular song. Bruce Thomas, Lemonheads, Hem, Steely Dan, The Doors, Beach Boys, modern bands who went to see Brian Wilson and think he is great, Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategy, Midlake, The Earlies, Grandaddy, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Elvis Costello (obviously the classic early period when he still used to make funny films), Lloyd Cole, David Bowie, Deerhoof, The Rolling Stones (paint it black you devils), The Poseurs, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Magnetic Fields, Frank Sinatra, Transmitters, Jeff Tweedy, REO Speedwagon, Scott Walker, Pizzicato Five, Lyle Lovett, The Wondermints, Blue Aeroplanes, The Bluetones, XTC, Lullaby Baxter Trio, The Carpenters, Judas Priest, Not Quite Scene, Squeeze, Orange Juice (have you heard the guitar solo in Louise?), The Charlatans, Talking Heads, The Feeling, The Fratellis, lots of others from the 21st century, I can only think of DJ Otzi at the moment and OBVIOUSLY not him. Is Les Dennis in a band?
Sounds Like: The sound you hear standing behind a waterfall, but with a verse, chorus, verse, bridge bit, solo chorus, chorus and fade. The climb to this waterfall is along well maintained paths, stepped and with hand rails over the difficult bits. Who says we don't look after you? Sometimes if you are lucky you will see bats flying in the middle of the day.
