About Me
THIS IS A TRUBUTE SITE FOR THE LONG-DEFUNCT BAND VICTIMS OF INTERNAL DECAY(akaV.O.I.D.). WELL, FIRST IT WAS CALLED VIOLENT ORDER OF IDIOTIC DUDES, BUT THAT WILL BE EXPLAINED LATER. IF ANY OLD FRIENDS OR FANS HAPPEN TO COME ACROSS THIS SITE, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT OR SEND A MESSAGE.
Here is the old bio that accompanied the Victims Of Internal Decay press kits from back in the day. I believe this is the bio that went out with the package that got them signed, in 1992. I will be researching the complete history of V.O.I.D. in the coming weeks, and will replace this somewhat silly bio that their manager, at the time, wrote for them:
Victims of Internal Decay, a five piece unit nestled tightly between Seattle and California in the upper longitudal area of northwestern Oregon, are set to unleash their form of classic death/thrash to the masses. Born and raised on beef and trees, Victims Of Internal Decay's (V.O.I.D) current lineup consisting of Ron Farris on bass guitar, Terry Geil on guitar and backing vocals, Hans Jochimsen on guitar, Lance Thill on vocals, and Pat Wombacher on drums have been together for over six years. Due to the fact that guitarist Terry Geil has only one leg, V.O.I.D has adpoted the very unusual phrase "Death on Nine Legs."
After three self-released demos in the underground, Democrazy '89, Terminal Happenings '90, and Dead Fish White '91, V.O.I.D entered the studio in 1992 with the area's finest producer/engineer, Drew Canulette, who has worked with the likes of Neil Young, Black Flag, Soundgarden, and Nirvana. The end result is a sound that can be best described as 'Sludgegrind', consisting of a mixture of grinding, death, metal, speed, and doomy interludes. Personal influnces vary from Slayer, Celtic Frost, Morgoth, Napalm Death, Rollins, Violent Femmes, and oddly enough, Afghan Whigs. "With this variation of listening, along with a concentration of long-term friendships within the band, and thorough band loyalty, is what allows us to come off with a slightly different sound. If all we listened to was strictly Death Metal, we'd probably sound like a carbon copy of all the other Death Metal/Grind bands in the scene today," explains drummer Pat Wombacher.
Adding flavor to Victims Of Internal Decay's delf-titled debut release, are a remake of "One More Stitch" by the now defunct Seattle band, Green River, and a tribute to Black Sabbath, V.O.I.D. style, with the song "Under the Sun."

The following is a review that was found on eBay:
Eclectic from Oregon, a death metal classic!, June 2, 2005
Reviewer: Chael Mayer (Kentucky) - See all my reviews....The album (I had it on vinyl) opens with a Hellraiseresque sample: "I have come to believe that we are living in a great void, I've lost my faith." Well, this is an album to restore your faith in death metal (especially if you yearn for something a little more dimensional than, say Suffocation or Krisiun). The aural assault begins with "Absolute Worship," a track with growling vocals and rhythms that range from double-bass attack to slow-mosh breakdowns to grinding moments to thrashing moments to slow (almost doom-like) reflections. Lance Thill's death growls are complemented well by Terry Geil's (whose growls sometimes almost sound like hardcore). The production is reminiscent of early black metal: shallow, with moments of grandeur. Although this release is on a label named Grind Core, Victims of Internal Decay display few elements of grind, although some tracks (like "In Extremis") include segments that seem like grind tracks (a la Nasum or Spazz) inserted to create tension between the slower portions. The battling vocalists present grind familiarity. This would probably be considered a "death metal" release, but V.O.I.D. were putting out music as early as 1989 (_Democrazy_), so they present innovative death metal. All of the tracks cover many ranges of tempo and rhythm. I find their minimal usage of acoustic guitar to be especially effective. These Oregon boys were influenced by Voivod (see logo on cover of one of their demos (_Dead Fish White_) and there are many moments where the music sounds like a death metal Voivod, with hints of other bands: Celtic Frost, Napalm Death (the opening to "False Hate" could be growled by Barney himself), Green River, Black Flag, and Afghan Whigs. The disc includes one of my favorite tracks of all-time: "One More Stitch." "One More Stitch" is a cover of a track by the phenomenal band Green River. The original Green River track is haunting, but the V.O.I.D. version is terrifying. "One More Stitch" is easily one of my top fifty favorite tracks of all time. Two of my bands (Noisome Corpse and Skeletons of Society) used to cover this track live, and it always received phenomenal crowd response, and I would almost induce vomit as I would growl the lyrics. The album is worth the purchase for that track alone. The lyrics are pretty cerebral (especially for death metal). Also, the album was produced by Drew Canulette (Soundgarden, Black Flag, Nirvana, Neil Young). This is a forgotten gem. Relieve the glory of early 90s underground metal!
