About Me

........The History of The 21st Century Cockney KneesUp ---------------------------- A Discussion in a couple of hundred words...........No, don't start counting.................. We are in the nineties and there is no one in a local pub on a Sunday night apart from a few bottles of beer, a couple of pumps and seven mates. Two of the pals decide to play guitars entertaining the other five with Neil Young classics an an array of tunes by Bob da Bob.Edward Case decides that it is time to play a guitar for the first time and see what happens. He should have made a move to do this perhaps 15 years beforehand. He blasts down to Argos at the earliest opportunity to find the cheapest nylon stringed guitar he can get his hands on. Yep it's only £25............and sounds it too but, for the sort of stuff he's about to write, we don't see anyone caring. The omnibus edition of Eastenders is on the telly on a Sunday afternoon. After being told to sort it out about a hundred times in the space of ten minutes by the likes of Phil and Grant Mitchell, Edward picks up a pen and writes down a few lines based around the then famous tune ''My name is Prince and I am funky". It is put together with about three chords given to him by a friend at work......................AAAHHH It's Sunday night and the folks down at the empty local pub are stunned to see Edward with a guitar...But not surprised that it is from Argos and is oh so cheap. Ed explains that it would have been a bit daft to buy a two and a half grand Gibbo only to find out that he didn't like playing it. A little book is mistakenly read by one of the gang who asks 'What the hell's all this about?' After a good few minutes hesitation, the unfinished song is performed...........very slowly because Ed cannot get the chord shapes right. The few people in the room are in hysterics. 'DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM' one shouts out but it's too late. Oh dear.there is no turning back............in 1995 a couple of great guys from the Melody Maker write that within six months the tune will be No1.............but for ten years Edward has an important job and can give very little quality time to the project.............UNTIL 2006 AND IT'S ALL KICKING OFF AGAIN. 2007 and the new ITV1 'talent' show listens to 'Eastend' on here and Edward is invited to perform the tune at an audition in Cardiff. Up at five in the morning with his best mate to brave what turns out to be one of the most frightening experiences but a brilliant one none the less. A recording for television has finally been made......................and we're waiting..................................but while we're waiting, Edward puts a full show together to appear at The Bath Fringe with piano recital fella Charlton but help......................it's the same bloke.
