About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

“WORKERS AND WRITERS AND THINKERS AND FRIENDS WHO BROUGHT A LITTLE SUNSHINE TO THIS VISION OF HELL”HERE ARE THE GOOD TIME BAND THE WORLD HAS BEEN PLEADING FOR, FOR FAR TOO LONG. AN IN YOUR FACE FOLK/PUNK SEXTET BRINGING FOLKS TO DANCE FLOORS WITH INFECTIOUS MELODIES, RASPING VOCALS AND POUNDING RHYTHMS DELIVERED WITH POWER AND PACE. APPEALING TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND ALL WALKS OF LIFE, THESE BOYS BRING A LIVE SHOW THAT’S SITS IN THE MEMORY FOR A LONG TIME AFTER.“I LIKE TO WANDER ‘ROUND THIS CITY AT NIGHT/SMELL THE BEER ON THE AIR AND WATCH THE THICK BOYS FIGHT”FORMED IN LATE 2006 AFTER MANY NIGHTS ON THE PISS AND A LACK OF ANYTHING BETTER TO DO, THEY SAW A LARGE VOID ACROSS ALL GENRES OF MODERN MUSIC FOR AN ACT THAT CELEBRATES LIFE, IN ALL SHADES OF LIGHT - THE GOOD TIMES AND THE CRAP. TAKING HEAVY INFLUENCE FROM THE SPIRIT AND POETRY OF THE POGUES, A SHARED UP BRINGING IN PUNK ROCK AND JOINT LOVE OF BRITISH INDIE BANDS THE SIX YOUNG MEN, INCLUDING FORMER MEMBERS OF CULT LEEDS PUNK BANDS THE DEAD PETS AND THE DREGS, KNEW EXACTLY HOW THEY WANTED TO PRESENT WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY. SONGS WERE QUICKLY PUT TOGETHER AND THERE IT WAS; WARMTH, ANGST, NOSTALGIA, HOPE AND SORROW ALL ROLLED INTO THE BITTER SWEET TUNES THAT ARE THE MARK OF THE HYDROPATHS.“THERE’S AN ANGEL LIVING IN MY DREAMS/I’VE GOT A FEELING THAT HE’S WATCHING OVER ME”THEIR FIRST SHOW CAME IN JANUARY 2007 OPENING UP FOR THE GALLOWS AT THE COCKPIT IN LEEDS EASILY WINNING OVER THE CROWD OF HARDCORE KIDS AND PROUDLY DRINKING THE HEADLINE ACTS RIDER DRY. A SHORT BREAK WAS TAKEN FOR THE BIRTH OF JOE’S DAUGHTER, THEN THE BAND SPENT THE REST OF ‘07 TWEAKING AND WRITING NEW SONGS MAKING SURE THE NEXT TIME THEY WERE SEEN THEY’D BE THERE TO STAY. THAT WAS TO COME IN THE SUPPORT OF THE GRIT, WITH WHOM TOM HAD FILLED IN ON DRUMS FOR THAT SUMMER, TOURING EUROPE AND PLAYING GLASTONBURY, READING AND LEEDS FESTIVALS. FROM THAT POINT ON THE HYDROPATHS HAVE BEEN IN DEMAND PLAYING TO GROWING, DIVERSE CROWDS THROUGHOUT 2008, A YEAR IN WHICH THEY INDEPENDENTLY RECORDED THEIR FIRST DEMO.“I’LL PACK ME BAGS BOYS ‘CAUSE I’M GOIN’ AWAY/I COULD LEAVE TOMORROW BUT I’M LEAVING TODAY…”THE FUTURE FOR THE HYDROPATHS LAYS IN THE RECORDING OF AN ALBUM THROUGHOUT AUGUST ‘08 AND TOURING THE UK IN NOVEMBER. IN THE MEANTIME THE SEARCH IS ON FOR THE RIGHT TEAM TO HELP TAKE THEM OUT TO THE MASSES................
