The Write Offs

Thirsk's original party ska & drunk punk

About Me

The Write Offs started in 1994(ish?) and went on and off, losing and gaining singers and sax players along the way, until their last gig in 2002. Hailed by many as one of the first of the ska/punk generation that swept the UK.
Site to be pimped up and given the treatment real soon... Some facts: * First gig was with a male stripper in the Lamb & Flag, Ripon. * Played last gig at Black Lion, Thirsk, with 46 Itchy. * Sweeney Tod from the DeadPets was vocalist for a short time during Aarons hiatus from the band * They covered songs such as 'Special Brew' by Bad Manners, 'Dead Cities' by The Exploited, 'Waiting Room' by Fugazi, and recorded a ska version of 'Teacher Cop' by good friends Leeds punk rockers Dog On A Rope * Played gigs alongside the like of The Selecter, Mu330, Snuff, Oi Polloi, Freaks Union, Red Alert, [Spunge], and way too many with a bunch of drunken idiots called HomebrewJim, Jamie & Katy went on to form Bosseye
Bob went on to join the Dead Pets
Aaron went on to join Homebrew
Aaron & Shrimp went on to form Mafia Vs Ninja
Aidy went to live in Thailand, where he still resides to this day...

Oct '97 tour diary...

Ok, ten years on... jeez time flies (and aeroplanes crash...). So anyway, this tour diary was written during the 1997 tour by Aaron, and was reprinted from 'My God Can Beat Up Your God' fanzine issue ...
