music. record label. playing bass. FRIENDS they are probably the single most important thing to me in my life (definitely do *not* mean the TV series, hate that). reading. cooking. drinking. knee sliding. messing about. having a laugh. did i mention drinking. actually i don't drink much these days, turned into a right lightweight.
anyone *genuine*, and down to earth. people with tattoos. jamie oliver (guys who can cook - hello sailor!). people who bring a smile to me face.
people who share a similar passion for music - particularly the rhythm section!, or people sharing an irrational fear of flying and dogs (not necessarily at the same time, that would be insane).
well... this is a tough one. i'm into allsorts of stuff from indie rock / pop punk / 70s punk (Citizen Fish oh yeah! actually i think they're late 80's) / hardcore / (some) metal / post rock stuff. here are a few off the top of my head... mew, the take, jets vs sharks , mono, moby, iron maiden, beethoven, sedaced, remainderfour , sigur ros, Queen, the jesus years , chillerton, shepherds the weak , King ly chee , milloy , all the bombed out bands plus dauntless elite, keithy burton , nathaniel green , pylon , million dead , bedford falls , jimmy eat world, sensefield, texas is the reason, get up kids (early stuff a la 4 minute mile / something to write home about), (early) promise ring, at the drive in, Quagmire, hardpack , the little explorer , spy vs. spy, this ain't vegas , blocko , hooton 3 car, chopper, faith no more, foo fighters. i get way too excited about music. particularly when pissed.
anything with girls fighting like kill bill, mr & mrs smith, charlies angels, the matrix, tomb raider, rarara. on a more serious note, i loved La Haine, Old Boy, Arlington Road, Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling for Columbine, Apocolypse Now, Osama, Inside I'm Dancing (brilliant low budget film that has made a lot of headway in the trying to remove the stigma historically associated with people with disabilities - rent it if you can get hold of it), things in those sorts of veins...
there is very little less mind numbing than television. unless it's alan partridge or spaced or phoenix nights or little britain or 24 or... actually i just surprised myself at how long that list is. don't really consider myself a tv person.
prefer non fiction to fiction, but it's a bit boring if i start banging on about it. i tend to read books about modern wars. Biohazard by Ken Alibek is my favourite - about fucked up biological and chemical warfare during the cold war - written in '99 which is scary as there's far worse shit that's gone on since then, and is doing today. fiction wise, i really liked la peste and l'etranger, both by albert camus, oh and all of tony parson's books like man and boy. yes. i did warn you... i'm going to shut up now.
Steve Harris.
