He has also recorded five CD's which have been nominated for several Native American Music Awards including "Outstanding Musical Performance, Best Male Artist, "Best Album Country or Folk" and Songwriter of the Year." In Nov. 2007 Tonemahs current release "Welocme to Your Rainy Day" won the Best Folk Recording at the 9th Annual Native American Music Awards.Tonemah has been receiving airplay in dozens of local markets throughout the US, Canada & even Alaska. A singer/songwriter in the purist sense, Tonemah combines the energy of rock, the intelligence of folk and the heart of country, to create a musical niche he calls, "Native Americana". Tonemah has gone to Nashville once again to record his most recent effort "Welcome to your Rainy Day". This follow up to the successful 2004 release "One in Every Crowd" has Tonemah teamed once again with producer Larry Pacheco. Released in the Fall of 2006 nationwide at Tonemah Shows, Tonemah.com & select record stores. Incorporating musicians from the rosters of such musical heavyweights as; Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Bob Seger and Lyle Lovett, along with members of his road band, Tonemahs' new release has this performer ready to make the next big step." I tried to take what I hope were the best elements of the previous CD's and challenge myself by raising the bar both vocally & lyrically." states Tonemah about the new release. The ARIOS Radio Network has cuts from all of Tonemahs' CD's in regular rotation, as do dozens of local markets across the US & Canada. Tonemah has shared the stage with acts like, Three Dog Night, Hootie & the Blowfish, Foreigner, Johnny Lang, Donna the Buffalo, Rusted Root and many others. Tonemahs' live shows, full band electric or an intimate acoustic set, always finds him connecting with his audience. Whether reaching out to Native youth through his many workshops & speaking engagements, or pouring it all out on stage and in the recording studio, Tonemahs personality always shines through. "Welcome to Your Rainy Day " Co- producer Larry Pacheco says it best; "During a recording project the artist usually brings ego, attitude or talent to the table, and rarely honestly lays it all out on the line. Working with Darryl Tonemah was different, he brought himself". Tonemah Nation
