We are a band from Devon in the U.K. We have just released our third album "Queen of the South" on Lovely Aichan records. It has been 10 years since our first cd came out ("Origin of the Sun"), 2004 brought "Tree of loving soul" which we recorded at London’s legendary Toerag studios and now we have the third opus, nearly a year in the making. in true Akibas fashion the line up changes on every cd. This time those present and correct are Melodie Jones, previously (Minx) Huw Akiba-Jones, (Fabulous Yellow Roman Candles) Clanger (Garageland, Muttonbirds, Homer) and Jolyon Holroyd (The FireFlies,The Love Trumpets).
This new record has, shock, horror, a couple of almost cheerful, dare i say pop songs, one of which "The Cafe Song" was written by the very talented Mr Peter Carroll who i once had the great pleasure of playing guitar for. Melodie wrote "Can’t Deny" and "Heartburn" and Jolyon contributed the countrytastic "With luck and some money" all other songs are by Huw except "She wonders at it all" which i wrote with Mr Miles Poppycock. "Your heart still beats in me " was written for my beautiful dog Aichan who passed away last year and is also dedicated unashamedly to all dog lovers wherever you may be.
