A Brief History:
Mark has worked for over twenty five years in residential recording studio management. Within this role he has also worked extensively as a musician, engineer and producer with international artists such as Portishead, P.J. Harvey, Jethro Tull, Ian Gillan, Fairport Convention and Pentangle to name but a few. Mark has been integral to the on-going development of Acoustic Magazine of which he is now editor and features as a technical columnist.
More recently Mark has spent time developing his personal and combined interest in boating and film making and photography. In August 2007 Mark circumnavigated across the Irish Sea to Ireland, exploring some 1000 miles of the South West Cost including the breath taking Skellig and Blasket Isles. 2008 also saw Mark take part in, film and photograph the Round Scotland 4.2 Meter RIB Challenge. A similar trip is currently being scheduled for 2009 where Mark will form part a team that will exploring and filming the western coast of Scotland including a stay on the far westerly Isle of St Kilda.
Together with his business partner Hugo Montgomery-Swan, both Hugo and Mark manage Oyster House Music who currently represent artists Swans in Flight, Marco Mendoza and T.M. Stevens

Quotes:

"Extraordinary how potent cheap music is": Noel Coward, Private Lives

"Do not fear mistakes, there are none": Miles Davis

"Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime": Potter Stewart

"We only regard those unions as real examples of love and real marriages in which a fixed and unalterable decision has been taken. If men or women contemplate an escape, they do not collect all their powers for the task. In none of the serious and important tasks of life do we arrange such a "getaway." We cannot love and be limited": Ambrose Bierce:

"If you are going to kill me, kill me, but just don't fuck with my ears": John Lennon to Phil Spector (who just pulled and shot a gun into the studio ceiling on the Imagine session).

"Watching television is like taking black spray paint to your third eye.": Bill Hicks

"A kiss may ruin a human life": Oscar Wild

Nick Harper; One Of The Best...

Pierre Bensusan

Dedicated to all the men who risk their lives at sea.

John Martyn; The Late Great!

Excalibur! Two albums I really enjoyed working on.

Fairport Convention (and me v/briefly) featuring in Ken Russell's interesting take on English folk song. This version of"Seventeen Come Sunday" I recorded on the same day they shot the video, as well as having a convivial pub-lunch with Ken and the band. Bizzarre! Days like this don't happen very often.
