About Me
New Kurt Wagner Solo Tour dates at www.lambchop.net!!!!From Wikipedia:
Lambchop, originally Posterchild, is a band from Nashville, Tennessee. Lambchop is loosely associated with the alternative country genre, though its music resists easy classification. The music website Allmusic refers to them as "arguably the most consistently brilliant and unique American group to emerge during the 1990s".Never a band with a "core" lineup, Lambchop through the years has consisted of a large and fluid collective of musicians focused around its creative centre, frontman Kurt Wagner. Initially indebted to traditional country, the music has subsequently moved through a range of influences including post-rock, soul and lounge music. From the Merge website: From the band that bought you 1997s brilliant Thriller comes another fantastic album, DAMAGED. Lambchop is a loose musical collective of anywhere from 5 to 17 players from Nashville, TN, and they sound like no one else. For almost 20 years Lambchop has been perfecting the New Nashville Sound despite the fact that NPRs Renée Montagne once described them as a band that Nashvilles Music Row will never clutch to its bosom. Critics have long held Lambchop in high esteem and attribute their unique sound to the bizarre mélange of influences drawn on by their mastermind, Kurt Wagner, one of the most singular, and best, songwriters of our time. (Salon). ALL MUSIC GUIDE calls Lambchop arguably the most consistently brilliant and unique American group to emerge during the 1990s.Damaged, Lambchops ninth album, is written by Wagner and brought to life by up to 17 band members and collaborators. Damaged eschews the overt country influences of early Lambchop records and the R&B and soul influences of mid-period albums like Nixon and What Another Man Spills, and opts for a hushed austerity that is uniquely Southern yet oddly universal. Damaged continues in the quiet and haunting tradition pioneered on the past three Lambchop albums, Is A Woman, Aw Cmon and No You Cmon.LAMBCHOP is Nashville's most fucked-up country band. They aren't influenced by country music--they influence country music. Their music is even smoother than Del Reeves, and they have more musicians than Tanya Tucker's bathroom antics: two guitars, one bass, two drummers, pedal steel guitar, open-end wrenches, lacquer-thinner can, organ, xylophone, euphonium, trombone, baritone sax, trumpet, clarinet, bongoes, resonating metal square, and a vanilla extract bottle. Although they strive to be truly Nashville, they are virtually ignored in Nashville. In a town where every No. 1 single is recognized with a splashy Billboard overlooking the offices on Music Row, they labor quietly and diligently, waiting for the day when someone--Tony Brown, Aubrey Mayhew, Faith Hill--will return their phone calls or sexual advances. Chet Atkins may have turned his back on country music, but Lambchop haven't. As they discreetly continue to develop the New Nashville Sound in recording studios all across Music City, they know the day will come when the deadbeat moms and dads of country music will fess up and recognize their illegitimate children as the true inheritors of country music. This page is in no way, shape or form affiliated with the actual band, other than the fact that we all are here to pay tribute to some great musicians!
