About Me

I'm a man on a mission to make a lot of great unsigned bands sound near-as-damn-it pro even though they only have home-recorded or budget-studio tracks ... making it much more likely that someone will sign you, or pay to download your recordings...
All too often, I've come across bands who've put a lot of effort in to their performance and writing, only to produce thin empty recordings... so I thought it was time to do something about it, and fill the world with happier prouder musicians :)
There are two ways I'm going to try and help you good people.
Firstly, I'm in the process of making some youtube videos to cover a few topics to help your recording skills for free (yay!)... because you just don't need to know acoustics and psychoacoustics inside out to make your home-recording sound hugely better, just some basic principles, ingenious tips and well-placed duvets can work wonders!
When you do have the money for professional studio, this knowledge could help you ensure get the sound you want, not just follow the taste of the engineer.
Secondly, I'm providing an on-line mastering service, where you will be able to download half your mastered song to ensure you are happy with it before you part with any money...
...but what is Mastering and why do you need it?...
For any band to succeed it needs tracks that will persuade someone to pay for them on sites like Itunes, or have a radio station add them to a playlist. or even have their video make MTV.
To do this the recordings have to stand up against other professionally recorded songs. No matter how good the tune is, if it sounds weak, muggy, grating or thin compared to other songs, it will lose its chance to impress.
The Mastering process fattens and tightens up your recording, creating punchier, smoother clearer sound, giving depth to the stereo image. The 'power' of the signal is increased to the industry standard, so it sits nicely alongside other music so that all people hear is your performance and song-writing.
Being a more specialist art, bands have traditionally gone to professional studios that charge a considerable amount of money for mastering ... in practice, younger bands with home recordings simply don't bother...
But now you can put your worries away because Mastering Jones can step in and do a fantastic job all on-line for a great price, and you get to hear it before you part with a penny... ..message me with details and we'll breathe so much new life in to those recordings that they'll leap out of the speakers!
Do you want to pay for a mastered track that you have confirmed you are entirely happy with? Just press the button below,
Many thanks :)

Akibas live video

The Akibas, a fine band, asked me to see what could be done with the sound-track to a cam-corder video of their performance at the Picture House, Exeter (UK).The original sound was a band-limited mono...
