About Me

I'm a writer and artist.
I used to be a dancer...
Before I left the business I unionized
the first topless club in America.

Lady D. is like a Norma Rae or
Erin Brockovich story...
but with a little more sizzle..

Talk about doing something challenging!
I'm from Boston.. So I thought..
Eh, what the hell.. I'll go out with a bang...

DANCING TO HER OWN BEAT
San Diego - Americans have been organizing unions since the 17th century to ensure fair and safe working conditions. In her new book, Lady D. Artemis Penny tells a compelling story of one woman's determined fight to form the first unionized nude establishment.
Based on a true story, Lady D. delves into the struggle between Dianne, aka Lady Dy, and her employers at Pinto's Topless Bar Extraordinaire.
The book begins as Lady Dy arrives at the club to find the media eagerly waiting for the employees to vote on whether or not they want a union.
Inside, general manager Clyde Jones revs up a party atmosphere to sway the dancers' opinions. The owner, Guy, soon appears on the scene ready to apply his fear tactics to the women to seal his victory. Little does he know he's already won.
As Lady Dy stands outside with her allies before the news cameras to express her reaction to the vote, Clyde and Guy celebrate inside with their lawyer, Edmund Druddger.
The story artfully branches into two points of view, with Lady Dy reflecting on how this conflict originated and Clyde filling in the club owner's side of the story. An elegant dance between past and present ensues as the tension of the situation builds and both perspectives of this power struggle are revealed.
The plot then lands firmly back to the present and readers discover that although Guy has won, the fight isn't over.
Lady Dy now faces the difficult decision of whether or not to continue her struggle for the strippers' rights.
Brimming with powerful emotion, Lady D. offers readers an entertaining and intelligent glimpse behind the curtain of the topless dancering profession.

The one below is from 1989. I know, too much hair, too much make-up. My only defense is it was still the eighties.
