About Me

I've been a freelance artist for over 20 years, and currently work as an art director and designer for all kinds of media: video and performing arts, corporate communications, advertising. I'm a lifelong painter/artist. I write. I draw. I act. I direct. In a past life I was a scenic and costume designer for theater, and a scenic artist for theater and television.
I'm allergic to giraffes.
My grandmother was a paranoid schizophrenic who wrote a famous WWII song that has been credited to other people. Honest. And she named her dog "I Don't Know" just to fuck with people who knew she was mentally ill. My brothers and I cut her grass with a scythe once. Once.
When my father was born his parents paid the doctor $15 and a pig. He got his GED in the Navy. He recently retired after 46 years in broadcasting with 11 Emmy's and a Peabody Award, and now works for the governor. He makes me look bad. I can take him now, though.
A distant relative of mine - Harry Snodgrass - was the most famous radio personality of his time, playing piano from prison.
My mother's grandmother founded the very first Methodist church in Morgantown, West Virginia.
The Super-Bowl and I were born in the same year, with my hometown team playing.
I performed on the Bozo Show once (acrobatics). "Cookie" hung around on set 5 hours before show in full makeup, smoking cigarettes.
I love paint.

My Interests

Art. Music. Film. Theater. Opera. Photography. Architecture. Dance. Collaboration. Bourbon. Animals. Science. Big fan of really fine illustrators (James Jean and Adi Granov are very high on my list) and girls with guitars (or sometimes banjos).
"art is a state of permanent floating confusion amid the petty certainties of life, and people who can't handle it should really go into the family business and leave the rest of us alone."—peter schjeldahl, new yorker art critic
