The Chicago Academy for the Arts

About Me

The Chicago Academy for the Arts' mission is to prepare young artists for life through rigorous academic education and professional arts training.
The decision to attend the Arts Academy is a serious undertaking. Critical thinking and self-motivated, independent learning are the focus of the school's college preparatory curriculum. Advanced placement courses ensure that students will succeed in competitive university programs. 97% of students continue their education at colleges and conservatories and 90% are admitted into their first choice institution.
Master classes and guest lectures provide a context for learning not available in traditional schools. Guest artists have included Roger Ebert, Jim Belushi, Garth Brooks, and Harold Ramis. Daily studio work, independent film projects, and more than 80 performances and exhibitions provide opportunities for learning.
The Arts Academy's central location in Chicago expands the classroom experience to utilize the city's world-class cultural institutions. Internships and special classes place students with such acclaimed companies as Steppenwolf Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, and the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago.
The Chicago Academy for the Arts is the 2006 recipient of the Creative Ticket National Schools of Distinction Award from the Kennedy Center's Alliance for the Arts Education Network.
