Bateria SambaNSa

Bateria SambaNSa is a unique samba band on the Balkans, organized in the same way as the authentic samba baterias which give the rhythm to the biggest carnival in the world – Carnival in Rio.
Carnival in Rio has made samba popular throughout the world which has led to the creation of samba baterias on all continents, but Bateria SambaNSa is the only real bateria in this part of Europe.
Bateria can have from 10 to even more then 300 members. Bateria SambaNSa consists of 16 percussionists from Novi Sad, playing on original Brazilian instruments, who all fell in love with samba and Brazil.
The word “bateria” itself signifies a group of percussionists who, besides playing instruments, entertain the audience by singing and dancing.
During less than two years of its existence (it was founded in march.2006) Bateria SambaNSa has held a number of spectacular performances after which the group soon earned the reputation of “instant party maker”. The audience will long remember the performances at the EXIT Festival, Carnival in Pancevo and Kotor, National Film Festival, Trench Town Festival in Subotica, opening of the Delta City Mall in Belgrade, anniversary of the club “Zeleno Zvono” in Zrenjanin… Bateria SambaNSa made 50,000 people dance to their music on New Year’s Eve 2007/2008 on the main city square in Novi Sad.
The best known rhythm that the bateria performs is SAMBA, the rhythm with which the audiences from these parts of the world identify Brazilian music. Of course, there are many other Brazilian rhythms such as AFOXE, MARACATU, SAMBA REGGAE, MARCHA,BAIAO…, and because of the influence that musical genres from other continents have had on Brazilian music, other rhythms, which are more familiar to us, are also performed, such as SAMBA FUNK, DRUM’N’BASS, REGGAE…
The advantage of Brazilian rhythms is their susceptibility which makes people dance, whether they are true admirers of samba or they have encountered it for the first time.
