I'm a 27 year old DJ/Promoter based in Edinburgh.
What do I Play?
Since first touching a pair of decks back in '98 I've gone through pretty much all the genres of house, techno, and breaks. It's always a tricky one when you ask a dj what he plays - you'll get a different answer each hour of the day. I'm playing a lot of electro these days (but the good shit - not that electro house crap), a hell of a lot of breaks and whatever goes well in between - be it the Clash, a bit of old Italo, or some good funky techno. I've embraced CDJs but can't bear to lose the vinyl touch so I try to use them both together with CD loops over vinyl to try and create a bit of a unique vibe to my sound.
Clubs/Bars
I cut my live teeth at Edinburgh's Pivo back in 2000/2001 doing a pre-club for a great wee club called UP which ran at the famous and now defunct Venue. After a bit of a hibernation period I entered the Red Vodka Club DJ comp in 2005 and came 2nd overall. It gave me a bit of a kick up the ass and drove me to start FREQBEAT with my long time friend The Breaknotist. At FREQBEAT we aim to provide the finest electro and breaks this side of the border in Edinburgh's most intimate Venue - RED.
Future Gigs include By Royal Appointment in Sunderland on 1 June, The Burlesque Extravaganza that will be SLEEK @ Ego in Edinburgh on 22 June alongside Kev Wright (Plastic Fantastic/Adjust) Ricky Palys (Beatroot), David Myers (Eden Angels) and Stevie Nobad. Come August you can find myself and The Breaknotist diong wee guest slots in Red Star Institute @ Red and Karnival @ The Cabaret Voltaire.
