Az-Tech is the mutated lovechild of breaks junkies Al Majik, Siren and Re:Tox. It runs every month at Edinburgh's favourite underground venue The Caves.
Az-Tech's mission:
"To reunite Scotland’s electronic generation with the DJs & producers who keep the dance music scene alive today, here at this magical venue below the bridges of Edinburgh. Our formula is combining the breaks with the best of every dance genre, and drawing in a friendly, up-for-it-crowd. We want to give something back to the clubber, which is why we keep the entry fee cheap and we spoil you all rotten with goodies when you come in the door. We've got something unique here to give to Scotland's most up-for-it clubbers every month. Help us out and spread the magic."
Az-Tech is now over a year old and is one of the most talked about clubnights in Edinburgh. Since its launch in March 2007 it’s welcomed some of Scotland’s biggest breaks DJs including Bradley C, Defcon1, Silver Storic and Believe. It’s also played host to international breaks acts like the mighty Backdraft, kitetastic Hexadecimal infamous Rob Reng, bombastic Baobinga & ID and Groove Allegiance where a full house witnessed what the Splank! record label bosses hailed as
‘one of the best gigs we’ve ever played’
Az-Tech has also given the oppurtunity for lesser known acts to gain some well deserved exposure. Ver rocked the cities foundations with his bass heavy live Dub-Step set back in April and Weak Hunt (dressed in Aviators and a boiler suit) made sure the whole club had their ‘dancing pants’ on for his electro house set in July. All these sets have been accompanied by Az-Tech resident VJ Interface Labs whose epic visual displays have added a unique element to the night. Over the past few months the night itself has started to evolve with the introduction of a bigger, phatter soundsytem and Edinburgh's first ‘Chill-Out Jungle’ , complete with live artwork and face painting.
"Az-Tech takin over the breaks scene like the first grey squirrel let loose in the uk..." Special Ed (Pangea)
"Az-Tech goes from strength to strength" DJ Mag
"Anyone who's not made it to one of these nights yet doesn't deserve the right to call themselves a clubber" Chef De Party (Slashdot, Red Star Institute)
