Greetings one and all, wipe your feet please...
Since moving to EDINBURGH in 2002 and leaving SHREWSBURY behind, I've been stalking the local club scene like that nut who did Jill Dando. Thankfully, 2007 saw me focus my affection for heavy tunes into setting up a club night, rather than getting all "shooty-shooty-cry-for-helpy".
Back in march, alongside musical manchild AL MAJIK, and Edinburgh's first lady of Breaks DJ SIREN, I unleashed AZ-TECH on the masses; a forward-thinking re-invention of the clubbing experience, housed beneath the Old Town at the CAVES.
So far we've welcomed international artists from the cutting edge of Breakbeat:
Splank supremos GROOVE ALLEGIANCE, the Ruff Dog himself ROB RENG, Hard-liners BACKDRAFT, the Big Monster sound of BAOBINGA & I.D, and most recently the unforgettable HEXADECIMAL,
as well as some of the finest DJs Scotland has to offer including BRADLEY C, DEFCON1, SILVER STORIC, WEAK HUNT, and DJ BELIEVE; we've even had a live Dubstep/Electro set from the midlands' underground phenomenon VER.
As resident, I play a broad range of breaks influenced by as many other styles as possible- electro, techno, reggae, whatever tickles my innards on the night in question.
Recently I've acquired a bi-monthly residency taking care of the backroom breaks alongside DJ Siren at... 'SIREN' (no relation, honest). Set in the beautifully refurbished HIVE (formerly the Honeycomb), the main room drifts from Electro-House to Techno, Bombastic Breaks and beyond...
Next up at Az-Tech we've got the unmistakable sounds of Bradley C and Defcon1. These boys smashed it at our launch night last year and they're back to celebrate our First Birthday Bonanza on March 7th. Joined by the Freqbeat boys MNKY and the Breaknotist in support with residents Al Majik, Siren and muggins 'ere ending the night with a bang.
Free entry before 11, bagfuls of freebies, live artwork... you know the script. Aztec fancy dress preferred...
