Headspin

About Me

Headspin at The Bongo Club is one of the longest running and best loved clubs in Edinburgh. Widely recognised as an innovator, a groundbreaker and an institution, Headspin continues to push the boundaries and raises clubbing to an art form. Much more than just a feast for the ears, we also have visual projections and video feeds, mixed, looped and mutilated live to compliment and enhance the aural experience. Into its tenth year and stronger than ever, Headspin features a heady brew of the finest funk, hip hop, house and electro beats with percussive and visual backing to form an incredible spectacle of sound and vision.

HEADSPIN NEWS
Eleven years old and still keeping it fresh and funky. The old man of Edinburgh clubs, Headspin still has plenty of legs yet. The mix of funk, hip hop, house, disco and electro beats is as relevant as it has always been.
Headspin at The Bongo Club is an innovator, a groundbreaker and an institution. Headspin continues to push the boundaries and raises clubbing to an art form. With multiple turntables, live percussion and visual projections mixed, looped and mutilated live to compliment and enhance the aural experience; it's much more than just a feast for the ears.
The Headspin crew have thrown some great parties over the past couple of months and the crowds have turned up in large numbers to enjoy the sounds the resident DJs have been serving up.
Lots more of the same over the coming months when we concentrate on giving the residents the platform they deserve. Nobody can rock the Headspin crowd as well as the Headspin residents can and they thrive on the time and space to mix and mash the styles on their four deck set-up.
Known for his immense scratch skills, part of the mighty II Tone Committee crew and Jon Carter's Monkey Mafia as well as touring and playing alongside the Chemical Brothers, Mix Master Mike, Asian Dub Foundation, Silvah Bullet, Roni Size & Reprazent and Killa Instinct on scratch duties. Krash Slaughta’s legendary scratch skills have seen him battle as a UK DMC finalist and earned him residencies at Fabric and Scratch in London. With worldwide shows since 1997, a recent support slot for Grandmaster Flash and his most recent release on Wack records reaching number 2 in Fat City records chart, Mr Slaughta returns to Headspin for another session of turntable terrorism and straight up party tunes. This is one not to be missed!
In June the Headspin resident DJs hit the decks again and with percussive backing from Bongo Dave they will be bringing the club to a frenzy with their selection of funky party tunes moving onto filthy electro numbers designed to destroy the dancefloor.
Moving into July and the Headspin dream team are still in full effect with the residents offering up fat and funky beats and grooves, deep disco, and electro goodness, all cut, scratched and blended on four turntables. This is where the party is!
