You may also purchase CD's at www.cdbaby.com/all/TraceyKTracey K. Houston is a Nashville-based country music artist with three full-length albums and numerous hit singles under her belt. She's about as country and down-to-earth as you can get. Born and raised in Western Canada, surrounded by "country music and mountains", Tracey K. comes by her musical ability naturally.... it runs in the family. All her relatives played and sang and she remembers many a jam session the family would have singing and playing country music from the '40s through '70s. While growing up in Quesnel, B.C. she "discovered" her mother's record collection of country and rock n' roll from the 50s and 60s, and was in "heaven"! Tracey K's major musical influence is Loretta Lynn, but other favorites include Jean Shepard, Tammy Wynette, Marty Robbins, Faron Young, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell and Merle Haggard to mention just a few. But it was in Drayton Valley, Alberta where she was exposed to even more country music and where she first met legendary Canadian singer/songwriter Ray Griff, who had a major impact on her life.In 1987 Tracey K. made her stage debut during the Calgary Stampede. She remained in Western Canada for the next eight years performing with many country bands. In 1991 she recorded a self-titled mini-album; and in 1993 her first single He's Not For Real was released to radio on ATI Records, doing very well in Canada and Europe. Then in 1995, Tracey K. moved to Nashville (via Dallas) to further pursue her country music career. In 1997 her second album "Falling For You" scored a Number 1 single of the title track on the independent charts in the U.S. later that year, remaining in the Top 20 for eight weeks. CMT Europe and GAC also picked up the video for this single. During that year, Tracey K. was honored to perform at a benefit concert in White House, TN for a Robertson County Police Officer who lost his life in the line of duty. In 1998 the New York State Country Music Association nominated Tracey K. Houston as Female Vocalist of the Year. In May 1999 Tracey K. taped a performance at the Honky Tonk Heroes Showcase at the Club LaFiesta for the United Nations peace-keeping forces in Bosnia and Kosovo. In 2000, Tracey K. released her latest album "I'm Not the Same Girl" (on Songbird Productions). All seven singles from the album, 'Middle of the Bed', 'Hot Steamy Night In Dixie', Count Me Out, 'I'm Not The Same Girl', The Girl In Oklahoma, 'Lonesome' and 'Deja Blue', received chart action worldwide. In 2003 she released 'You Did Everything Right' which also received chart action worldwide, and her latest single 'I Heard The Bluebirds Sing' (duet with Grand Ol' Opry Star, Jim Ed Brown) remained on the Canadian charts for 4 months, as well as riding high on the European charts. Tracey K. has won several industry awards including "Canadian Recording Artist of the Year" (2000) and "Album of the Year" (2001) awards from The Lonestar State Country Music Association (Best of Texas Music Awards) in Beaumont, Texas. In 2001, Tracey K. taped a PBS one-hour concert TV Special entitled "Tracey K's Café" which was aired nationally. In June of that year, she made another TV appearance on Nashville Video Showcase. Tracey K. Houston has toured extensively throughout Western Canada and the United States, and in the Fall of 2004 she toured Europe for the first time. She has appeared at Fan Fair in Nashville consistently since 1997 to meet and chat with old and new fans alike. She has opened for the likes of David Frizzell, Razzy Bailey, Jo-el Sonnier to mention a few, but a highlight for her was opening for none other than the Queen of Country Music, Kitty Wells (& Johnny Wright). She has also guested on the Ernest Tubb Record Shop Midnight Jamboree live radio show. This year Tracey K. is continuing to tour with "Hey Loretta, The Girl From Butcher Holler", a tribute in song and story, which she wrote, choreographed, and produced - dedicated to the "Coal Miner's Daughter", Miss Loretta Lynn. Tracey K. just finished her latest album project, entitled "SALUTE TO LORETTA LYNN." Wherever and whenever Tracey K. performs, this energetic, charismatic, and attractive young lady delights the crowds with her music and dynamic stage demeanor.

Influences: The original recording of I HEARD THE BLUEBIRDS SING as recorded by Jim Ed Brown and his sister Maxine Brown (The Browns), recorded in 1957. (Sister Bonnie was part of the group at that time, but she didn't sing on this recording.) Written by the late Hod Pharis, Canadian singer/songwriter/radio DJ. Jim Ed Brown and I recorded this song in 2004 and it stayed on the Canadian charts for 4 months (July through October 2004).===Loretta Lynn, Jean Shepard, Anita Carter, Merle Haggard, Lefty Frizzell, Faron Young, Tammy Wynette, Kitty Wells, Hank Williams Sr., Buck Owens, Ray Griff, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, etc. I also love the music of Elvis, Eddie Cochran and other 50s/60s Rock 'n' Roll.
