About Me

I won't pretend that i'm some journalist writing about myself....I'm Sean Preston. I was born in Australia in a small town called Alice Springs, to an American father and Japanese mother. To make a long silly story short, i grew up there in the desert until i was about 18 years old. We had no record shops there...the only place to buy records was the K-mart which meant only top 40 krap. So bein' a teenager hungry for music i had to raid my dad's record collection which is where i discovered and fell in love with surf music. Eventually we moved to America, to a suburb of Baltimore. It was in America that i got to finally go to rock concerts. It wasn't long before i picked up the guitar with dreams of fronting a punk rock band. Through the twists and turns of learning about punk music i found that there was a strong contingent of punks who loved surf and rockabilly. I got into Link Wray this way. For years i progressed through the phases of playing in bands doing punk and indie stuff but all the while i held a deep and abiding love for surf, country and early rock'n'roll. Only in the last few years has this love for these musics begun to see the light of day but like hank wiliams sang.... i saw the light. These days I'm living in Baltimore Maryland, USA after being away for a few years in Dublin Ireland. I went to Ireland for a holiday and a chance to go busking (street performing). I figured busking would make me a better performer, which i have to say is very true. I've learned a great deal from the time i've spent playing on the street. Sometimes busking is a very hard way to live, and for those of us who have (and continue to) live soley by it, it is a way of life, but i'm fortunate to live off of playing music.
