JOHN "PAPA JUBE" ALTINO/ MUSICIAN/ BASS PLAYER/ ARTIST/ PRODUCER/
Was born in Haiti to a Christian Couple, both parents are Baptist Ministers, he came to America at 8 years old, and continued to play music in church with his parents, from early childhood, Jube was alwasy considered to be a Whiz Kid" meaning that he had many incredible aptitudes for many different things, from being a straight A student, to being the best Soccer Player in his region, and being one of the most sought after bass player of his times, Papa Jube remained humble, as he grew up here in New York, first in Broklyn, then New Jersey, he attended University and did very well in College, then he began to pursue his dreams right after, he played bass for many top Artists in the late 80's from : Billy Idol, Israel Vibrations, Mickey Dread, YellowMan, Sister Carole etc...Jube has toured with them playing the bass and served them as Musical Director...then, Papa Jube embarked on his first solo album titled "Lyberasyon" which was mostly political, addressing many world issues and specially at that time, pertinent issues about his native country of Haiti...the album was well received, it took Papa Jube on many tours around the world, with Peter Grabriel, Paul Simon, Michael Stipes/ REM/ etc,,, then, Papa Jube decided that it was time to focus more on his production and other skills, he began producing, within a few years, Papa Jube landed a huge Record Label deal with "Ruff House/Sony" which at that time was the record label for :Fugees, Boyz 2 Men/ Cypress Hills etc...given that Papa Jube was a very close friend with Wyclef jean of the Fugees, the affiliation was a natural one....
Papa Jube then launched his first label "Black Pearl Music' in Chelsea, manhattan, NY, under that imprint, Papa Jube produced music for "Black Rob" Killah PRiest/ Ras Kass/ Canibus/ Beenie Man/ etc....and after Sept 11, 2001 ..New York changed as we all know it for obvious reasons, then Papa Jube closed his major recording studio, and joined Mr. Larry Gold / owner of the legendary 25 years old World Renown Club "SOBS" in Soho, Manhattan, he joined Larry Gold as the Vice President of SOBS, and he created SOBS Records, which he had already recorded and produced a live album for "JOHN LEGEND" and working on many more compilations, he created "Solvillage" which is the hottest RnB/Neo Soul showcase in the city...But, Papa Jube remains humble, as he is still prouducing music in France, England, Japan etc....
