Duckensond Fontaine (DD) was Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on January 30, 1978. DD followed in his uncle’s musical footsteps, taking up the guitar at the age of eight; developing a relationship with the instrument that would make him a musical icon the guitar. His influences: Dadou Pasquet, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Hendryx and B.B. Kings.
Going against his mothers wishes of playing the guitar along with dreams of becoming a musician, DD secretly pursued his passion. At the age of sixteen he decided to go professional with the Haitian Music Industry. To help him with his career he went and played with a band Natif Natal and Shoubano Combo. He also experienced some of the “racine†groups like Zantray Eksperyans, Boujon Boukman that allowed him to play next to his godfather, Wawa.
On December 28, 1999 after a brief detour in his career, two musicians, Carl Fred and Romual Jean offered DD to join their band “Degaâ€. With His remarkable talent and performances, DD gained the audience attention and later established a fan base! Fans referred to him as the “show man†and soon to be called by many: “DD Santanaâ€.(The only Santana of Haiti)
..A former member of the popular musical group, K'Dans, today DD’s musical career is taking him to a different level; his first solo album entitled:†ROOTS JAZZ THERAPEUTICâ€, released on November 2007, will be a reflection of his Haitian roots combined with his love of Jazz and Blues. With the help of the Maestro pianist Jocel Almeus and the guidance of his manager Reynald Dorsainvil, DD took charge of his music creatively, writing or co-writing most of his songs. This compilation of music will demonstrate how talented he is as a guitarist and a music composer.
