Luceanna Altino-Moore is a resident of Somerset, New Jersey. She lives with her husband and her four children. Luceanna was born in Croix-des Bouquette, Haiti and moved to New Jersey in 1974. Her mother fled Haiti in 1971, desperately seeking a better life for her and her five children. Today, Luceanna is a proud graduate of Union County College majoring in Medical Laboratory Technology. Despite her background in Medical Technology her passion is to help innocent souls.
Her mother being her true inspiration; Luceanna gained a passion to help save other Haitian born children. Along with her sister Marie and the help of their father who lives in Haiti formed an organization to help Haitian orphaned children. This organization was formed in 2003 with a two-year personal saving fund gained by her substitute teaching jobs. This money along with donations made by church members and personal friends allowed the opening of The “Oasis for Children, Inc. which is an orphanage in Haiti. Oasis is an acronym for “Our Attempt at Saving Innocent Souls.†Although funding was low, doors opened for nine orphaned children in Haiti in June, of 2003. While there are many more who need help, her fight for support continues so that doors may open for more dieing children. Oasis currently has over 45 children on the waiting list.
Oasis for Children Organization is dedicated to saving the lives of the forgotten children of Haiti by providing a safe environment, quality health care and education.
