The Psykicks

About Me

From the teenage lust of the 50s, through the short summer of the 60s, to the sonic guerilla of 70s and 80s underground, the feeling is one: ROCKNROLL, a wild howling from the bottom of the soul, the greatest avant-guarde movement of the 20th century. So shake your body to the beat, fuzz-out your mind, and dream along with those whove tasted the dark syde of the mushroom ...
The Psykicks are a rocknroll band. They were formed on October 2000 in Athens, Greece. After some changes in the line-up, their members are now the following: Thodoris (vocals), Billis Psykobillis (guitar, vocals), Jimmy Fuzz (guitar, vocals), Chris Organ Grinder (farfisa organ, vocals), The Doctor (bass) and Panos Ramone (drums, vocals).
Their influences are mainly the following: the Stooges and the MC5, 70s punk, 60s garage punk and surf and their 80s 90s revival and bands like the Velvet Underground, Radio Birdman, the Wipers, Sonic Youth and the Last Drive. Their live set ranges from 3-minute garage and motorcity punk explosions to long, chaotic improvisations. They also like to cover some of their favourite songs, from bands like the Stooges, the Real Kids, Radio Birdman, the Ramones, the Adverts, the Jam, the Undertones, Them, the Chocolate Watch Band, the Ronettes, the Shadows etc.
They have done many gigs in the cities of Athens and Thessaloniki, in several venues like Gagarin 205, Mo Better, Rodeo Club, Odd Club, Kafetheatro and Mylos and also in schools, universities and parks, together with other Greek garage and rocknroll bands, like the Frantic V, the Ducky Boys, the Bullets, the 700 Machines, the Hotshits, the Yesterdays Thoughts, the Meanie Geanies, the Teardrops, the Teddy Boys From The Crypt, the Screaming Fly and DucknPsycho. They usually appear in the Indie Free Festival, a free festival of the Greek underground scene that takes places each summer in Athens. On October 2002 they appeared as the support act at the Flaming Stars concert in Gagarin 205. In the spring of 2003 they opened, together with the Ducky Boys, the Cynics concert, in Gagarin 205 again. On September 2003 they played live at the International Comics Festival of Babel magazine, that takes place each September in Athens.
On February 2002 they released on their own a CD with 11 songs. In the autumn of 2003 they participated with 4 songs in the CD compilation of the second issue of Rock Jam magazine. They also participate with 2 songs in the CD compilation Enjoy the Greeks (On Stage Records), a compilation of the Greek rnr scene. On June 2004 came out their first 45 EP with 4 songs (by Action Records).
On September 2006 they released their debut lp "Ignition Time"
