About Me

I’m a marketer. I’ve worked on everything from software, cars, fast food, film, and music. Currently getting a lot of experience in the non-profit sector. Working my way back to music. Specifically, I’m interested in developing vehicles to bring a bigger audience—particularly an African American audience—to Black rock. I guess I caught the bug from doing PR, marketing and management for several alternative Black musicians and from by days as director of PR for the Black Rock Coalition.

I’m currently helping to develop a film project on diversity in swimming, tentatively called “Parting the Waters.” It’s about the efforts going on all over the country to help connect Blacks and Latinos to that most American activity—swimming—after many, many years of exclusion.

I write two blogs. The first is a marketing industry-oriented one called MarketingPopCulture.com The second was launched recently and is Bold As Love , subtitled “Black rock and the new Black imagination.” Simply put, I believe Black rock, in all of its many forms, can save Black culture.

I'm looking forward to getting back more DJ-ing this year! My sets are an international selection of various genres from multiple geographies and eras. From Brooklyn to the Bay, Mali to Mumbai and all points in between. If it's got a groove, I play it.
