Who the hell is Clare Love?
Some people take a lifetime to define who they are, and I’m sure that I will too however one of the most telling moments of my life occurred in a junior high drama class when the assigned task was to mime our most cherished activity.
I walked into the center of the section of the room that was the designated stage, sat down, put my arms around my knees and settled into the most comfortable position I could. Moments passed, the class got a bit restless and finally the teacher spoke up and asked, “Clare, just what is it that you’re doing?”
“I’m thinking. My most favourite thing to do in the world is to sit and think I just love it.”
As an adult, my favourite thing to do is walk. I walk a minimum of three hours a day, then I go home, I sit, I think, I take it all in. I recall the details of the paths that I have taken, and I am absolutely brimming with gratitude for having the luxury of being allotted the freedom to see it all and take in the beauty of the view. I love this planet, my heart actively reaches out to the many people I have had the supreme pleasure of meeting and learning about.
Writing songs is more a way of keeping the things I think about alive and current, opposed to trying to sum things up. The pieces of music that I have written keep me company during the difficult times that life sometimes urges me to travel and reminds me that when you live in a first world nation, it is your responsibility to live as you choose, if for no other reason than knowing that we are all lucky enough to have the option of doing so.
It is my intent to fall hopelessly and helplessly in love with this business of breathing and to always remember that the most fantastic things can be found in the most unlikely of places. I strive to be the best friend that I can to the people that I care about, to live my life with an open heart regardless of the consequences and to be thankful for the gift of clarity provided by walking with eyes wide open.
This is who I am. I hope that something that I have written helps bring to the surface, something special about you.
Love,
Clare Love.
