ideas of August. A musical mosiac consisting of 7 members with all different musical backgrounds and styles. With each musician having their own creative freedom, ideas of August can be described as a palette of sounds. From rhythmic bass lines to melodic strings, they have a style that ventures into many genres while remaining distinct.
The two writers, Dan Ballard and Dan Scherman, began to play music together as a duo, but it didnt take long for a duo to turn into a 7 piece. With the desire to occupy their own corner of the musical globe, the two sought out the appropriate (and wonderfull) musicians that could produce the sound they envisioned. In June 2007, ideas of August hit the studio and layed down the foundation tracks to what is now the band's debut EP. With a strong taste for perfectionism and a passionate admiration for originality, ideas of August's debut release displays a vivid comparison between emotion and diversity.
You can catch the band playing at numerous bars and coffee shops around Toronto throughout the summer and into the fall/winter.
