Né en 58 , il est l'un des plus talentueux et des plus originaux batteurs de jazz européen. Etudie les fondements du jazz avec Michel PETRUCCIANI ainsi qu'avec le batteur américain Tox DROHARD. En 1984 s’installe à Rome, où il restera 12 ans jouant et enregistrant avec Paolo FRESU, Carla et Rita MARCOTULLI, Furio DI CASTRI, Enrico RAVA, Massimo URBANI, Flavio BOLTRO, Emanuele CISI, Mia MARTINI, Ramberto CIAMMARUGHI, Gabriele MIRABASSI, Stefano SABATINI, Stefano BATTAGLIA, Paolo Dalla PORTA, Riccardo FASSI, Danilo TERENZI, Antonello SALIS, Umberto FIORENTINO, Roberta Escamilla GARISON, Nicola STILO ,Dario LAPENNA, Maurizio GIAMMARCO, Francesco PUGLISI, Maria Pia DE VITO, Luigi TESSAROLLO, Franco D’ANDREA, Danilo REA, Dario DEIDDA, Pietro e Marcello TONOLO, Antonio FARAO, Rosario BONACORSO , Rosario GIULIANI,Fabio ZEPETELLA,Gianluca RENZI,Marco MICHELE,Luigi BONNAFEDE , …
De retour en France en 1996, il prend la place de Lenny WHITE dans le Graffiti Quartet de Michel PETRUCCIANI et devient le batteur de son trio avec Detlev BEIER à la contrebasse ou de son quartet avec Steve GROSSMAN pour des tournées dans toute l’Europe. Il l’accompagnera jusqu’à sa disparition en 1999.
En parallèle il enregistre avec Joe LOVANO et participe aux tournées d’Eric BARRET en Afrique de l’Est en 84 et de l’Ouest en 94, et en Turquie en 97, puis se produit avec PHARAOH SANDERS en Grèce, puis en Hollande et dans toute l’Italie avec le trio de Flavio Boltro et Furio Di Castri, il tourne avec le quartet d’Alain BRUNET en Polynésie, Iles Maurice, Russie, Iran, et avec le trio de Richard GALLIANO en Chine, Malaisie, Indonésie, Cambodge, Brunei…

Plus récemment (99), il monte son propre quartet avec Stefano CANTINI, Nelson VERAS, et Gildas BOCLE. Tournées en France et Italie jusqu’à l’enregistrement d’un CD en 2001 produit par la région de Toscane pour le label Materiali Sonori et dédié au maestro Petrucciani. En 2002, il fait partie du trio de l’harpiste américain Park STICKNEY avec Dino CONTENTI à la contrebasse. En 2003-2004, il se produit à l’Européen avec le Didgeridoo Orchestra d’Alain BRUNET. En 2005, il donne différents concerts dans les centres culturels Français du Cambodge (fête de la musique en juin et fête de l’eau en novembre) en tant que leader d’une formation de 30 tambours cambodgiens et de son trio avec Stefano Cantini (saxophone) et Luc FENOLI (guitare) ; Il enregistre le CD du quintet de Carine BONNEFOY avec Stéphane BELMONDO, Denis LELOUP, Gilles NATUREL. En 2004 il enregistre le disque d’Anne DUCROS avec Enrico PIERANUNZI, Jacky TERRASSON, et René URTREGER.
A enseigné pendant trois ans à l’Université de la Musique à Rome, et deux ans au Centre de Formation Musicale de Sienne.
A enregistré plus d’une quarantaine de disques.

Born in 58, he is one of the most talented and original jazz drummer in Europe. He studied the basis of Jazz with Michel PETRUCCIANI as well as with the American drummer Tox DROHARD. Back to France in 1996, he took over from Lenny WHITE in the Graffiti Quartet of Michel PETRUCCIANI and became the drummer of his trio with Detlev BEIER, bass, or of his quartet with Steve GROSSMAN touring all over Europe. He toured with him until his death in 1999.
At the same time he recorded with Joe LOVANO and toured with Eric BARRET in East Africa in 1984 and West Africa in 94, Turkey in 97 and then played with PHARAOH SANDERS in Greece, then in Holland and all around Italy with Flavio BOLTRO and Furio Di Castri trio. He also toured with Alain BRUNET quartet in Polynesia, Mauritius Islands, Russia, Iran, and with Richard GALLIANO trio in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Brunei.

More recently (1999) he created his own quartet with Stefano CANTINI, Nelson VERAS, et Gildas BOCLE. They toured together in France and Italy until 2001, when a CD was recorded and produced by the area of Tuscany for Materiali Sonori label and dedicated to the Maestro Petrucciani.
In 2002, he joined the American harpist Park STICKNEY trio with Dino CONTENTI, bass. In 2005, he gave a series of concerts in the French cultural center in Cambodia (Music Festival in June and Water Celebration in November) as the leader of a band of 30 Cambodian drums and his trio with Stefano Cantini, saxophone, and Luc FENOLI, guitar. Moreover he recorded the CD of Carine BONNEFOY quintet with Stéphane BELMONDO, Denis LELOUP, Gilles NATUREL. In 2004 he recorded Anne DUCROS’ CD with Enrico PIERANUNZI, Jacky TERRASSON and René URTREGER.
He taught for three years at the Music University in Rome, and for two years at the Music education Centre in Sienna, Italy.
He recorded over fifty albums.
