A peine revenu d'une tournée de deux semaines non-stop en Europe centrale nous voilà de nouveau reparti au delà de nos frontières pour une tournée toujours plus loin...au Kazakhstan et au Kirghizstan! Vraiment que du bonheur!

En arabe, « la caravane ». En musique, un esprit rock de la casbah. En concert, une tornade qui vous marque longtemps !
En clair, un phénomène qui est passé rapidement de bars de quartier de Ménilmontant à un duo avec Manu Chao dans une furieuse adaptation de Clandestino, emmenée par Karim Chaya et sa « Radio Casbah ».
A la croisée des musiques modernes et traditionnelles, les mélodies d’El Gafla rassemblent les rives de la Méditerranée en mélangeant habilement châabi, jazz manouche et chanson française, avec un sens du groove à l’africaine et des sonorités plus orientales.
En français, en arabe ou en kabyle, Karim chante aussi bien la mélancolie que la fête ou l’amour avec cette invitation au voyage et au partage, mais aussi appelle à la lucidité et à l’action.

WELCOME TO EL GAFLA’S WORLD ALTERNATIVE MUSIC
What does El Gafla mean? In Arabic, “the Caravan”. In music, a “rock the kasbah” spirit. On stage, a tornado which haunts you for a long time. El Gafla is a phenomenon, which quickly passed from small bars to a duet with Manu Chao in a furious adaptation of “Clandestino”, led by Karim Chaya and his "Radio Kasbah".
From Algeria to Paris, passing by Cameroon or Poland, the seven members of El Gafla represent a kind of International Orchestra of Ménilmontant, cosmopolitan and popular district of Paris. From bars to squats, from theatre to festivals, the music echoes and the caravan passes, followed by a large and faithful audience, bringing together all those who appreciate the energy of Gnawa Diffusion, the sweet melancholy of Souad Massi or the frank speech of Zebda.
Blending modern and traditional music, the melodies of El Gafla unite the shores of the Mediterranean by skilfully mixing châabi, gypsy jazz and French song, with African and Eastern groove sonorities. An invitation to travel and to share, but also a call to awareness and action.
From the scream of revolt (“Chouf la Misère”, which means “open your eyes to misery”), to A mon Général, denouncing the hypocrisy of the Algerian government, passing by Merci, a tribute to the resistance of the women of this country, the texts of Karim awake our consciences. In French, Arabic or Kabyle, he sings equally well melancholy (Le Marin, Ya Bouya), happiness (Bledi, Ya Ilahi) or love (Mille et un jours).
After Ya Bouya E.P. of which 5.000 copies were sold out in a few months, "pA/Ris-casbah" is a much-awaited album, ready to blow a warm wind over Europe as the winter months approach, followed by a sudden rise in temperature on the stages of the forthcoming summer festivals.
