About Me

Not really sure how a biog should go but…

First thing I’ll say is our influences - Jeff Buckley, Nirvana, Silverchair, Pearl Jam, Chilies, Q.O.T.S.A, Rage, Muse...obviously I could go on forever but…oh hang on Metallica as well! ok that’s it…no…Korn, Slipknot, Deftones. Ok I’ll stop, but that should give you the general idea...System of a down...of what we sound like, Not James Blunt.

We’re a 4 piece rock band, me and Ant (bass) have been friends forever and after developing a love for all things grunge started to learn our instruments together. We’ve been jammin ever since and created a unique sense of musical telepathy between us that is the base of the serenity sound. A few years ago we met lead guitarist Dervin who although smaller than most his guitars still plays them like they were attached to him from birth. His diverse musical tastes are routed in Prog Rock and with hero’s like John Petrucci, Jo Satriani and Steve Vai, he adds a polished, but most the time killer dimension to our sound. The the full line up formed in 2006 when Jon (Drums), with his ability to keep our songs chugging along like a human metronome behind the controls of a steam train and a strangely similar musical taste and attitude became the foundation of our sound.

Our shows are always very emotional and very intense, just like our songs. I find it impossible to write lyrics and music that isn’t incredibly personal to me.

Our mission is simple. No gimmicks, just music. Big songs, with big riffs, a lot of melody, and a punk rock heartbeat.
Latest Reviews'Serenity stole the night. The band, from Plymouth and Ivybridge, played some powerful hard rock and metal tunes which blew the crowd away. The lead guitarist was perfect and the singer the best so far.' - Matt Fleming, The Herald 2007

'Wow, do these guys know how to work a crowd! They had the biggest reaction at the Herald’s Battle of the Bands semi-final and not surpassingly the joint top score in the competition, gaining 64.00 points. Using the word big to describe them is not an exaggeration, everything about their performance was just that, real showmanship…' - Fresh Music Magazine 2007

'Serenity finished the night on a high. A massive high. A sublime, powerful, melodic, metallic, rocky, moving high. The crowd went nuts for the talented four-piece whose unique brand of heavy rock play adeptly to mainstream and alternative fans.' - Matt Fleming, The Herald 2007
