About Me

Menace were first formed in August 1976 when singer, Morgan Webster, met school friends Noel Martin, Charlie Casey and Steve Tannet at the Hope and Anchor pub in Islington. Their first gig at the now legendary Roxy was attended by Miles Copeland from Step Forward and Illegal Records who signed Menace straight away...The end finally came in late 1979 when after lack of interest from the record companies (due to their records being banned) (makes no sense to me either) and a lack of interest from the music press (possibly due to the working class ethics and the working class background of the boys in the band)...Menace’s last single Final Vinyl with the classic songs Last Years Youth and Carry No Banners, which lift the reputation of the band up another notch...After the split up the reputation of Menace continued to grow worldwide...Years past time changes, people grow but the spark of Menace always existed in the three guys from St. William of York school (the same school as Johnny Rotten). They would play together in various bands, generically known as The Collection, until Noel and Charlie finally put Menace back together with old friends John Lacey are Andrew Tweedie...The similarities between the old and new band are striking... The power of the bass and drums are as always in your face, add this to the excellent guitar work and vocals of the new guys and the harmonies, yes harmonies, of Noel and Charlie give Menace a power that hadn’t been heard for many years... Many people were heard to comment it’s just like the old days...The CricketSoda Myspace Editor! MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator

Sounds Like: Menace are one of my all time favourite bands. I like punk for the energy and the shear rawness of Oi and for me Menace are the explosive combination, that satisfies my need for good ol' dirty punk rock. Excellent on record, even better live. You can hear, see and breath the integrity in Menace: Rebecca Pollard Punk n Oi........................................ Cometh the hour and cometh the man or some bollocks like that, with the crowd eagerly anticipating a great night Menace took to the stage. I myself had been eagerly awaiting this moment for the past two months seeing one of the greatest punk bands of all time on my home turf. To me bands like Menace are and have always been what punk was originally about. They may have aged, they may have two new members but boy they can still kick ass, from the opening chords of the crowd were putty in their hands. To be honest I haven't seen a band whip the crowd into such a frenzy at a gig in Blackburn like this, the place went mad. This was probably one of the greatest punk gigs ever in Blackburn.
