Two Minute Hour - REVOLUTION FESTIVAL - OCT 3rd!

About Me

The Story
We are Two Minute Hour from Minehead, Somerset in England. We started in 2001 and the original line up was: Jas - Vocals and Guitar, Jamie - Vocals and Bass and Steve on drums and we called ourselves Stalefish.
After a year we started playing around with the idea of having two guitarists and one bassist with no drummer because Steve became a good guitarist.
After about a year of doing this we recruted Rob on drums changed our name to Two Minute Hour and made several demos which only exist on tapes that were recorded on a cheap tape recorder. After a few small gigs Rob and the rest of the band parted company because of differing time schedules and also the age gap.
After that Jas, Jamie and Steve decided to continue with Jas taking over on drums while they recorded the first demo version of Take 'Em Out on a four track cassette recorder, which was then put onto CD by Roger at Bulrush Studios.
Soon after recording Jamie left the band due to other commitments and so Jas and Steve were left to find a new drummer. After many emails and no-shows we got a message from Katie who played her first gig with the band at the Tropiquaria Battle of the Bands.
In December 2006 we recorded the Two Minute Hour EP which was self released in January 2007. Katie stayed in the band for a year and played her last gig with the band at the 2007 Tropiquaria Battle of the Bands.
So after thinking about recording with just Jas and Steve doing all the drum parts, we practised with Rob again and it just seemed to click with old songs sounding better than ever and new tracks sounding amazing and so Rob is now our full time drummer!
In October 2007, with help from the Live 'n' Up group, we recorded the Falling on Nails EP, with redone versions of Falling on Nails and Click, and the new song Method. On December 28th we were named Unsigned Act of the Year on the Indie Experience on XNDradio.com, beating some great bands from around the UK to the top prize.
In April 2008 we recorded Infinity Ends Tomorrow, our first full album, which will be available on 19.07.08 from here and also at all of our upcoming gigs after that date!
Part of a review from Slice the Pie.com (for a full track by track review go see our blog) -
From the fabulous muted intro of Not A New World to the Stampin Ground-esque ending of Dark, Infinity Ends Tomorrow mixes Velvet Revolver meets Stone Sour/Slipknot style shedded guitars, jazz funk and Primus influenced bass lines and pounding drum beats with joint vocals that have a hint of Placebo meets the aggressive side of Dave Grohl. To me a lot of these songs are very brave arrangements in a genre that practically dictates how it should and should not sound- but here the music body and the performance is a knock out, proving in music, laws are made to be broken---but only by the truly gifted, which this band are! Infinity Ends Tomorrow is a great new slant on thrash/hardcore with a progressive punk/metal edge. You can see which artists this band are influenced by but unlike the huge amount of bands who choose to rip off others rather than try something new, they have taken their favorite bands, mashed them together and made something completely different and original. These are the kind of bands to watch!
Why Two Minute Hour?:
It is basically about how time passes when you are with different people. For example if you are with someone you really like/enjoy being with then an hour can pass in what seems like two minutes, whereas if you are with people who you don't get along or find annoying then two minutes can seem like an hour.

INFINITY ENDS TOMORROW REVIEW FROM DEATHDOOM
Hailing from Minehead Two Minute Hour come across as a catchy rock band with a confident sound. Opening track "Not A New World" is direct and a good starter and glides well into "Method", another quick paced track with riff-age that reminds me in ways of a less electro styled Muse. "Left Backstage" sports a nice drum and guitar intro and more fast flowing riff-age. One of the heavier tracks has to be the rather thrashy "Falling On Nails" which again sounds faintly of Muse when it comes to the guitar. The harder vocals are good here. "Click" continues the heavier theme and also gets a little bouncier too. "Infinity Ends Tomorrow" has a far more bassy feel to it and one that does the bassist and the band credit. "War Across A Line" features a bit too much straight to your face vocals right from the off and the music seems too much of a scramble. The finale is entitled "Dark" and it brings back the bands trademark catchiness and fast flowing rock.
