About Me

I'm a freelance musician, a multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, pedal steel, bass, and drums.
These days, I'm playing with:
Dan Griffin & The Regrets - pedal steel
The Surly Young Bucks - guitar, pedal steel, vocal
Matt Paxton & The Mountain - pedal steel
Ben Somer - pedal steel
Matthew De Zoete - pedal steel
Bill Majoros/The Foreign Films - pedal steel, guitar
Tiiu Millistver - drums
Mark Weinstock - guitar, pedal steel, vocal
I've recently appeared with and/or recorded with:
Uvenburd - pedal steel, guitar, bass, drums
Drew Smith - pedal steel
Mike Trebilcock - pedal steel
Charlemagne - pedal steel
Groups I have played with in the past:
The Achievers - guitar, pedal steel, vocal, songwriting
Hearts Apart - drums
Red Zeppelin - guitar
I'm available for sessions and gigs on any of the instruments I play. Please contact me at goldstein dot aaron at gmail dot com if you wish to hear additional samples of my work (and to discuss my very affordable rates!).
I'm also into digital audio editing and production, and I'm a music geek with a rather encyclopedic knowledge of music trivia. I listen to a wide spectrum of music, and find that even when I come across music I don't necessarily dig, I'll deconstruct it to better understand how its components come together. Because I play all those different instruments, I hear music like a producer, often knowing exactly what I want each instrument to be doing.
Thanks for checking out what I'm up to.

Bucks reunion

I guess if you know me, you've already been hearing about this for a few weeks, but I thought I'd make it real offical-like and tell you that the Surly Young Bucks are reuniting to play at Pepper Jack...

Regrets/Four down

Dan Griffin's Northern Lights are now the Regrets. Just thought I'd mention. My fourth record appearance of 2007 is the forthcoming from The Foreign Films. I was in studio last week with Bill Majoros...

Three down.

Yeah, so, I'm a little unclear on the details of my aforementioned bet with McKnight (incidentally, guitarist for the unbelievable Tell The Divers and my new roommate), but I'm pretty sure the whole "...

Who needs music

I pulled down all my music because it wasn't really representative of what I'm doing these days. The tunes were from as far back as 2004...my writing is a lot different and a lot more in-depth now. On...

That's one record down, four to go, and it's only March.

Steve McKnight and I have a bet of sorts going on that we're each going to appear on five records in the year 2007. Tell The Divers' record came out last year so that doesn't count. Apparently I have ...

Achievers/Northern Lights/etc

So I guess there was never really an official announcement, but the Surly Young Bucks don't really play together anymore. It could always come together again down the road, but for the immediate futur...

...and another demo

Dig my latest slice of rock. Brain-pounding in a stoner-rock fashion. That's me on drums, bass and two guitars.

New Demo

I've posted a new demo done a few days ago. Sloppy, yes. Potential, yes. I'm playing drums, bass, two guitars and pedal steel. Adam Melnick on piano and B3. Things are going well, have a few gigs com...
