Naomi is the Half-human, half-Ktarian daughter of Samantha Wildman, the first child born on the U.S.S. Voyager after it was swept into the Delta Quadrant. Her Ktarian father's name is Greskrendtregk, but since he remained at station Deep Space 9 when Voyager was lost, the child has grown up not knowing him.
Naomi was born under very bizarre circumstances. On Stardate 49548 (2372), Wildman was giving birth at the same time Voyager encountered a spatial scission that created an exact duplicate of the ship and its crew. Because of the baby's Ktarian physiology, Wildman suffered complications during labor and the infant died. However, on the duplicate Voyager the infant survived. But that duplicate ship was doomed, and the Captain Janeway on that vessel ordered Ensign Kim (whose double had died) to take the healthy baby and escape aboard the other ship.
The Ktarian half of Naomi's physiology caused her to grow very quickly; by the age of two, she resembled a four-year-old human child. Naomi struck close relationships with some of the adult members of the Voyager crew, particularly Neelix, who would tell her bedtime stories and care for her while her mother was away from the ship, and Seven of Nine, who was a role model for Naomi. She also befriended the Borg children who lived on Voyager from 2376 to 2377. One of Naomi's favorite activities is the holodeck program "The Adventures of Flotter."
After being home in the Alpha Quadrant for a few years, Naomi had lost contact with most of her old shipmates. She finally started to find them again. Icheb, a good friend, was near the end of his academy years when he was assimilated by the Borg once again. Naomi, deeply saddened by the loss, took a night stroll through the woods behind her Ktarian home. Unaware of the dangers that lurked, Naomi was then assimilated by Icheb, whose designation was again "Second."
Naomi (or "One of Six") started to notice malfunctions in her regeneration cycle. She was dreaming along with Second. The Borg had failed to remember what had caused Second's malfunction the first time. Many more drones began to malfunction until only three were left: Second, One of Six, and Two of Five ( Ensign Vorik ). They barely escaped with their lives. Q Jr. helped in their getaway and Dr. Missy Brown extracted the implants. Naomi's health was restored in time for her mother 's birthday.
Naomi gained an obsession with the destruction of the Borg. Her main goal in life became that of fighting and defeating the Borg.
On her way to Vulcan with Samantha to visit her father, their shuttle was pulled into a spacial eddy. They were missing for a full week, but their memories are only for a few minutes. They returned to Earth for Starfleet to investigate their disappearance.
Dr. Missy Brown was taking Naomi to her Ktarian home in a shuttle when they discovered another Starfleet-like shuttle piloted by a clone of Naomi. The clone was four years older and only Human. Many tests done by Starfleet confirmed this.
After much time adjusting to her new "sister" both Naomi and Mara ( the name the clone had chosen ) were again obsessed with destroying the Borg.
Icheb, now an official part of Starfleet, was put in charge of making sure the two were kept out of trouble with the Borg. After an attempted escape, Icheb had to place the girls under house arrest until Starfleet called them all to Voyager .
A few months after the transfer occurred, Naomi was contacted by the Borg Queen with a message saying she wanted Naomi to join the Collective and help raise a special baby they planned on assimilating. She was then informed that the baby was Mara and Vorik's. A few months later, Vorik and Icheb were abducted by the Borg in an attempt to locate and retrieve Mara and the baby. Vorik had been partially assimilated and was able to tell Naomi where he was because of the the one implant still in her brain. Naomi was sent out with a lieutenant in the Delta Flyer toward the coordinates that Vorik had indicated. The rescue attempt was successful and Vorik was returned to normal. Shortly afterward, Naomi, Icheb, Vorik, and Samantha were promoted.
About this time, Mara gave premature birth to her daughter, who did not survive.
